Tumors originating from the remnants of the mesonephral (Wolf's) duct, known as FATWO (Female Adnexal Tumor of Probable Wolffian Origin), belong to the category of rare neoplasms of the female reproductive system. Primary clear cell colorectal carcinoma (CCC) is a very rare entity accounting for only 35 cases reported in the Literature. The clinicopathologic features of neoplasms arising in gastrointestinal endometriosis have not been well characterized. In this series, we report 17 cases of gastrointestinal endometriosis complicated by neoplasms (14 cases) or precancerous changes (three cases). Four patients, one of whom also had hypermenorrhea, presented with chronic abdominal pain and five had obstructive symptoms; one of these also had rectal bleeding. Juvenile polyps are hamartomatous lesions, usually unique, which appear at an early age. They are usually located in the rectosigmoid junction and are not thought to imply a higher risk of colorectal cancer. Here we report a case of signet ring cell (SRC) carcinoma in this type of lesion.

We report a case of acute bowel obstruction in a 31-year-old woman with a history of endometriosis diagnosed on laparoscopy a year before this presentation. The case is reported of a 66-year-old woman who presented with endoscopic and histological features of multiple lipid deposits in the mucosa of the sigmoid colon associated with an adenoma. Associated clinical features were abdominal pain and diarrhea. Colectomy led to the complete resolution of symptoms. Biochemical analysis disclosed the presence of glycerides in the mucosa. The pathogenesis of lipid deposits and the possible link with the formation of an adenoma is discussed.

We examined retrospectively 100 sigmoid colon resection specimens removed for diverticulitis (DD [diverticular disease]-diverticulitis), 53 adenocarcinoma specimens that also had diverticulosis (DD-adenocarcinoma), and 50 adenocarcinoma specimens that did not have DD (adenocarcinoma only) to study the mucosal changes that occur in DD.
