Performance Evaluation of a Solar-Assisted Multistage Heat Pump Drying System Based on the Optimal Drying Conditions for Solanum lycopersicum L.

This study aims to evaluate the drying performance of a multi-stage solar-assisted heat pump drying system for tomatoes. The method involves theoretical calculations based on the optimal drying process and experimental investigations to assess the impact of different drying temperatures and relative humidity on drying characteristics. The results from the theoretical calculations reveal that the multi-stage solar-assisted heat pump drying system outperforms a single-stage system, particularly under lower ambient temperatures or higher fresh air volumes. In spring/autumn, with 25% fresh air, so

Identification of seven polyamine oxidase genes in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) and their expression profiles under physiological and various stress conditions.

Polyamines (PAs) are implicated in developmental processes and stress responses of plants. Polyamine oxidases (PAOs), flavin adenine dinucleotide-dependent enzymes that function in PA catabolism, play a critical role. Even though PAO gene families of Arabidopsis and rice have been intensely characterized and their expression in response to developmental and environmental changes has been investigated, little is known about PAOs in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). We found seven PAO genes in S. lycopersicum and named them SlPAO1∼7. Plant PAOs form four clades in phylogenetic analysis, of which Sl

Unlocking the interactive role of GABA and NO in alleviating chlorpyrifos induced toxicity in Solanum melongena L. through modulation of physio-biochemical traits.

Injudicious application of pesticides has a detrimental effect on vegetable productivity and food safety. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and nitric oxide (NO) are key signaling molecules known to exhibit crosstalk in plant stress responses; however, their interaction under chlorpyrifos (CP) stress in eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) remains unexplored. Their synergistic action is essential for maintaining redox balance and enhancing stress resilience. Thus, the present study evaluates the effect of exogenous GABA and NO, individually and in combination (GABA + NO), on growth, physiological and

Histone variant H2A.Z is a conserved regulator of RBOH expression and ROS production during innate immunity in Arabidopsis thaliana and Solanum lycopersicum.

Histone variant H2A.Z, a conserved variant of core histone H2A, has been widely accept as a master regulator of plant gene transcription and plant-environment interactions including pathogen resistance. Yet the exact roles of H2A.Z in mediating stepwise plant immune such as ROS production are not known, which is a pivotal step in plant-pathogen interactions and is predominantly controlled by the RESPIRATORY BURST OXIDASE HOMOLOGUE (RBOH) family. In this research, we found that mutation of three and two H2A.Z genes in Arabidopsis and tomato both reduced the plant pathogen-associated molecular p
