Development of a core outcome set for clinical trials in basal cell carcinoma: study protocol for a systematic review of the literature and identification of a core outcome set using a Delphi survey.

BACKGROUND: Basal cell carcinoma is the most common skin cancer worldwide. Treatment options include both surgical and topical modalities. Although risk of metastasis is low, basal cell carcinoma can be invasive and infiltrate important underlying structures such as bone or cartilage. While many clinical trials examining therapies for basal cell carcinoma exist, the lack of consensus in outcome reporting across all trials poses a concern. Proper evaluation and comparison of treatment modalities is challenging. In order to address the inconsistencies present, this project aims to determine a co

Development of an integrated injury prevention and rehabilitation model for rugby and long-distance running: A qualitative consensus approach.

BACKGROUND: Sports injuries remain a significant challenge to athletes' health, performance, and long-term participation, particularly in high-contact and endurance sports. Existing prevention frameworks often lack sport-specific adaptability and integration with rehabilitation. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to develop and refine an Integrated Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Model (IIPRM) through a qualitative, multi-phase consensus process. METHODS: A three-stage, sequential qualitative design was used. Stage 1 was a scoping review of injury risks and prevention strategies in rugby and

Exploring the caregiver journey through randomized controlled trials in dravet syndrome: insights from a cross-sectional survey.

OBJECTIVE: To explore how caregivers perceived their child's participation in four randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for Dravet syndrome (DS), conducted between 1996 and 2024, on stiripentol (STP), cannabidiol (CBD), fenfluramine (FFA), and soticlestat (TAK-935). METHODS: A semi-structured, cross-sectional survey, in French, assessed families' motivations for enrolling in the trials, their perceptions throughout the different trial phases, and challenges encountered. RESULTS: Ten caregivers reported that their child had participated in the STP trial, 20 in the CBD trial, 13 in the FFA tria

From Proof-of-Concept to Decision-Grade Cerebellar Neurostimulation: A Precision-and-Governance Pipeline for Globally Scalable Balance Interventions.

The future of cerebellar stimulation should be moving out of the well-resourced research environment, so implementation needs to expect regulation, home-based models, and popular trust. An example of how a change in policy can affect the feasibility, cost and innovation schedule is the European reclassification of some non-medical NIBS devices as Class III medical devices [1]. There is also evidence in the literature of stakeholder research suggesting that parties concerned with the perceived benefit, with safety and with fear of misuse, affect the acceptability-variables that can dictate tria

Health Equity in Pediatric Drug Development: Translating Aspiration into Operation.

The concept of health equity-the attainment of the highest possible level of health for all members of society-requires equitable access to all aspects of healthcare, including pediatric drug development. However, many communities are under-represented in pediatric drug development programs. Barriers to participation include geographic, economic, racial/ethnic bias, legal, cultural, linguistic, and other factors. While there is no "one size fits all" approach to addressing these barriers, community engagement and collaboration is recognized by the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health

Approaches for co-creating oral health programs for adults: A scoping review.

Co-creation is increasingly promoted to develop sustainable oral health programs. Little is known about how co-creation is applied in adult oral health promotion, including learnings from such programs. This review aims to map the characteristics of co-created, preventive, community-based oral health projects targeting adults and to synthesize learnings, including challenges, possibilities, and successes. A scoping review was conducted in accordance with recommended methodological steps. A bibliometric search across major databases and a grey literature search covering all WHO regions identifi

Stakeholder perspectives on the reduction of opioid exposure in ICU: A modified Delphi survey.

PURPOSE: The global opioid epidemic highlights the need to re-evaluate pain management strategies and find alternatives to minimize opioid exposure. Opioids are primary analgesics and sedatives in intensive care units (ICUs) but may have negative consequences for patients and families. This study aimed to identify key patient-important outcomes related to opioid reduction and the use of analgesic adjuncts (e.g., non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [NSAIDs]) in critically ill adult patients through a modified Delphi study involving patients, families, and healthcare providers. METHODS: A mod

Developing Assessments for Key Stakeholders in Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease: Qualitative Pilot Study to Inform Designing of a Medical Education Toy.

BACKGROUND: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a birth defect of the heart that requires long-term care and often leads to additional health complications. Effective educational strategies are essential for improving health literacy and care outcomes. Despite affecting around 40,000 children annually in the United States, there is a gap in understanding children's health literacy, parental educational burdens, and the efficiency of health care providers in delivering education. OBJECTIVE: This qualitative pilot study aims to develop tailored assessment tools to evaluate educational needs and b

Stakeholder consensus of quality indicators for end-of-life cancer care in Malaysia: a modified Delphi study.

BACKGROUND: End-of-life care is an essential component of cancer care. Good end-of-life care improves quality of life for the dying individuals and their loved ones. This study aimed to compile a list of quality indicators (QIs) endorsed by experts, for assessing the quality of end-of-life care for cancer patients in Malaysia. METHODS: Eligible QIs were first identified through a scoping review, which formed the basis for a five-round online modified Delphi survey that was undertaken to reach expert panel agreement. Firstly, the relevance of each QI was rated by a panel comprising healthcare

EndoCompass project: research roadmap for calcium and bone endocrinology.

BACKGROUND: Endocrine science remains underrepresented in European Union research programmes despite the fundamental role of hormone health in human well-being. Analysis of the CORDIS database reveals a persistent gap between the societal impact of endocrine disorders and their research prioritization. At national funding level, endocrine societies report limited or little attention of national research funding towards endocrinology. The EndoCompass project-a joint initiative between the European Society of Endocrinology and the European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology-aimed to identify an
