Individuals with an intellectual disability (ID) have complex learning needs, and often experience difficulty acquiring new skills that rely solely on traditional teaching materials. Assistive technology (AT) is a powerful tool that plays an important role in addressing many of the issues encountered by those with ID, via the integration of technology in their learning process. This study explores teachers' views of AT facilities in different special education programs for students with ID in the Makkah province of Saudi Arabia, in order to identify the uses of the AT tools used to teach them.…

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Liver transplant (LT) is a recent option available in the United States (US) to treat those with severe, refractory alcoholic hepatitis (AH). We examined changes in clinical characteristics of patients admitted with AH and tracked hospital outcomes as practice changes involving LT have shifted.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Using the National Inpatient Sample, we performed a cross-sectional analysis of patients admitted with AH during the years 2016-2020 in the US. Differences in clinical characteristics over time were assessed. To compare outcomes between 2016-2017 (whe

PURPOSE: The Fournier's gangrene literature comes almost exclusively from tertiary referral centers. We used a population based database to evaluate variations in management and outcomes.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Inpatients with Fournier's gangrene who underwent surgical débridement or died were identified from select states in the State Inpatient Databases. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was done to evaluate patient and hospital related predictors of mortality.
RESULTS: We identified 1,641 males with Fournier's gangrene treated at a total of 593 hospitals. At teaching hospitals mor

The purpose of this study was to review the current status of research in this field and to describe the endoscopic technique for resection of the submandibular gland: a 15-mm incision is sufficient for the endoscopic material and gland resection without insufflation. The wound is minimal and the dissection is not traumatic. This innovating technique enables a magnified view of the structures providing an excellent teaching method.

Teaching efficacy is an important psychological belief concerning teachers' judgments of instructional capability and effectiveness. Most existing research on workplace support received by teachers has adopted a variable-centered approach, focusing primarily on average associations between individual sources of support and teacher outcomes, while paying less attention to heterogeneity in how multisource support resources are configured within teachers. Using survey data from 400 teachers at six private universities in Qingdao, China, this study treated emotional and material support from the o

OBJECTIVES: There has been recent interest in the administration of transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) by a caregiver, family member, or patient themselves while in their own homes (HB-tES). The need to properly train individuals in the administration of HB-tES is essential, and the lack of a uniform training approach across studies has come to light. The primary aim of this paper is to present the HB-tES training and supervision program, a tele-supervised, instructional, and evaluation program to teach laypersons how to administer HB-tES to a participant and to provide a standardized f

BACKGROUND: The teaching of anatomy is a key component in the training of physicians, and the foundation of this teaching is the human body, which must be properly prepared to be used as a teaching aid. Due to a lack of modern literature on this topic, we decided to write a technical note discussing access to the carotid artery.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We pre-qualified 43 donor bodies for the study. The bodies had to meet standards such as no signs of post-mortem decomposition, preservation of body integrity, and the absence of known infections. Carotid artery access was performed based on des

BACKGROUND: This research evaluated the effectiveness of an online education model in teaching breast self- examination to university staff and students.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: 1,679 women participated in a breast self-examination online training program. Breast self-examination knowledge evaluation forms developed by Maurer (1997) were used in the research and were evaluated on a 100 point scale. Paired t-test and McNemar's Test statistics were employed.
RESULTS: The participants scored an average of 46.5 (14.0%) on knowledge on breast self-examination before training, but 77.4 (11.0%) one

OBJECTIVE: Urosepsis is a severe and critical condition in urology. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a DeepSeek-based case-based learning (DS-CBL) method in educating nursing students about emergency management for urosepsis.
METHODS: This study included nursing students from the spring semester of 2024 (March-July 2024). The students'relevant learning materials were retrospectively analysed, and they were divided into a DS-CBL group and a control group (traditional case-based learning (CBL)) in accordance with the teaching methods they received. INTRODUCTION: Quality education is key in addressing the skilled neurological workforce gap in Africa. However, many medics are scared of the neurological sciences because of the challenges faced in medical schools in studying the neurosciences. Understanding its state and educational challenges is crucial for fostering interest in neurosurgery and related specialities on the continent.
RESEARCH QUESTION: What are the current state, challenges, and solutions to improve neuroanatomy education in Cameroon, Africa in miniature?

This study evaluated whether a concurrent group teaching procedure, in which all students respond simultaneously, could be used for persons with moderate or severe mental retardation. The teaching procedure used was the Task Demonstration Model, a program based on stimulus-control research and the fading techniques of behavioral psychology. Three teachers and three groups of students participated. Results showed that the teachers increased their rates of questions and instructions, positive feedback, and use of functional materials, but they reduced their rate of prompts to almost zero. Studen

BACKGROUND: Since decades, Forensic Medicine is mainly taught by didactic methods but in last couple of years some other teachinglearning and assessment methods are also introduced at some places which also lacks uniformity. Feedback from learners is most fundamental aspect to assess effectiveness of applied methods, but is not implemented in practice at most medical schools in India. Unfortunately, medical students are deprived of this practical empowerment and thus may not be efficient enough to contribute potentially to the justice system during their professional life. In order to improve

INTRODUCTION: Three-dimensional (3D) computer graphics are increasingly used to supplement the teaching of anatomy. While most systems consist of a program which produces 3D renderings on a workstation with a standard screen, the Dextrobeam virtual reality VR environment allows the presentation of spatial neuroanatomical models to larger groups of students through a stereoscopic projection system.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Second-year medical students (n=169) were randomly allocated to receive a standardised pre-recorded audio lecture detailing the anatomy of the third ventricle accompanied by e

INTRODUCTION: Teaching emergency medicine residents the principles of obstetric emergencies is a challenging task, as these emergencies are uncommon in general practice and include specific maneuvers for difficult and precipitous deliveries. These requirements are not easy to satisfy in a standard lecture and are labor intensive for small groups. This resource is a board game that leverages near-peer teaching, engages student collaboration, and supports friendly competition.
METHODS: The game was designed to be used by emergency medicine residents and emphasized the evaluation and management
