ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. (PM) is a traditional Chinese medicine with pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation and anti-aging. An increasing number of reports have documented liver injury associated with PM both domestically and internationally.
