We present five cases with gastro (four cases) and intestinal (one case) myogenic tumors with a marked extraluminal growth. In all cases, incidental discovery of an asymptomatic mass prompted further examination. One of three cases with a pedunculated growth mimicked a gallbladder cancer. The mass of a jejunal leiomyoma case changed markedly in location under probe compression. Color Doppler sonography confirmed not only the hypervascular nature of the mass but also feeding and draining vessels.

Gallium-67 scans were performed on 32 patients with adult and childhood sarcomata as part of clinical staging studies. Gallium-67 scans proved to be highly accurate in assessing sites of disease in patients with malignant schwannoma, Ewing's sarcoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma. Gallium-67 scans were inaccurate in determining sites of disease in patients with other types of sarcomata. It is concluded that Gallium-67 scanning is a useful adjunct to clinical staging in selected patients with sarcomata.

Only in special circumstances like pleural adhesion lesions, atelectasis or pneumonia can lung tissue be visualized by B-mode sonography. The acceleration of carcinogenesis, which was induced either by radio frequency radiation from a cellular telephone or by the ferric-ATP complex, was similar in a mouse strain characterized by age-determined carcinogenesis of lymphoid tissues. Organ hypertrophy, the presence of lymphoid blood and ascites, the development of solid tumours, and mortality were very different to those found in control animals. These results emphasize the role of calcium ion signal influx in the activation of oncogenes and the failure of thymus-determined immune defences.

BACKGROUND: Primary sarcomas of the uterus are uncommon, leiomyosarcoma being the most frequent. Most uterine sarcomas arise de novo, with malignant transformation of a benign mesenchymal tumor being a very rare event, and is reported only in leiomyomata.
DESIGN: The clinicopathologic features of 3 uterine liposarcomas arising in association with a lipoleiomyoma were studied. Immunohistochemistry for desmin, h-caldesmon, S100, and MDM2, and fluorescence in situ hybridization for the t(12;16) (q13;p11) were performed in all cases.
