PURPOSE: To study the effectiveness and safety of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) on primary open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension in Chinese eyes.
METHODS: This was a prospective randomized controlled clinical study in which 58 eyes of 29 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension were included. One eye of each patient was randomized to receive SLT (Group 1) and the fellow eyes received medical treatment (Group 2). Patients were evaluated after laser treatment at 2 h, 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and then yearly.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to determine the clinical features and outcome of Behçet's disease in the pediatric age group.
METHOD: Twenty cases within a pediatric age group whose ages differ from 5 to 15 years were studied retrospectively to determine the age of onset, the initial signs, and the progress of the disease.

PURPOSE: Study of different factors which can change the visual prognosis in congenital cataract.
METHODS: One hundred seventy eyes of 100 children with congenital cataract are operated by extracapsular cataract extraction with limbic incision. Posterior rhexis and anterior vitrectomy were associated in children under 2 years. Implantation was used in 42%, contact lens in 8%. Other cases were corrected by glasses. The prognostic factors studied were: uni- or bilaterality, partial or complete aspect of cataract, age of apparition and management, and association with other malformations.

We studied 105 patients (105 eyes) operated on for glaucoma with adjunctive fluorouracil, who were followed up for 12 to 48 months (mean, 34.6 +/- 12.9 months). Fifty eyes that had previous glaucoma or cataract extraction or had inflammatory glaucoma had a high risk for postoperative scarring (high-risk group), and 55 eyes had glaucoma surgery as an initial procedure (initial surgery group). Intraocular pressure lowering surgery in congenital aniridia glaucoma (CAG) can be complicated by dysgenesis of the limbal region, anterior chamber angle, iris, and lens. The anterior segments of 23 eyes (17 patients) with congenital aniridia were investigated under general anesthesia using ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM). OBJECTIVE: To estimate long term future of pressure and vision of children who underwent DS for CPG.
