A group of 366 healthy, white postmenopausal women, aged 50-81 years, mean age 66 years, were selected from the screened population of Scandinavians who were part of a multicenter study of the efficacy of tiludronate, a new bisphosphonate, in established postmenopausal osteoporosis. Eighty-eight women had a lumbar spine bone mineral density (BMD) above 0.860 g/cm2, and 278 women had a BMD below 0.860 g/cm2. It is known that the affinity cross-linking study of the human high-affinity Interleukin 2 (IL-2) receptor reveals triplet bands consisting of 70 kDa alpha chain(Tac)-IL-2 and the 90/80 kDa doublet. Incubation of radiolabeled human C3a with rat peritoneal mast cells resulted in high levels of uptake and extensive degradation of the ligand. Both cell-bound and free radiolabeled human C3a underwent extensive degradation by rat mast cells even at 0 degrees C. Necroptosis has been implicated as a critical cell death pathway in cancers, Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases, and virus-infected cells. PURPOSE: To investigate the effects of combined transepithelial photorefractive keratectomy (tPRK) and accelerated corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) on visual acuity and refractive outcomes.
METHODS: The medical records of 89 eyes (89 patients) undergoing combined tPRK and CXL (tPRK-CXL group) or tPRK alone (tPRK group) were retrospectively analyzed. PURPOSE: To evaluate the effectiveness of accelerated corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) with riboflavin for keratoconus by the change in dioptric power and corneal topography.
SETTING: Private practice, Tokyo, Japan.

METHODS: The accelerated CXL treatments (KXL system) were performed using a 10-minute riboflavin 0.1% (Vibex Rapid) soak and a 3-minute ultraviolet-A (UVA) irradiance at a level of 30 mW/cm(2).
