AIM: Review of our experience and to develop an algorithm for salvage procedures in the management of hypospadias cripples and treatment of urethral strictures following hypospadias repair.

The authors studied the morbidity of retropubic radical prostatectomy in 150 patients operated between December 1983 and March 1993. The perioperative mortality was zero. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: While robot-assisted surgery has rapidly expanded within reconstructive urology, debate persists regarding where it can be applied most effectively and where open surgery remains the more suitable option. The question is no longer whether robot-assisted reconstruction is feasible, but rather when it represents the most appropriate approach.
RECENT FINDINGS: Recent evidence indicates that both open and robot-assisted techniques achieve comparable short-term outcomes in the management of vesicourethral anastomotic stenosis, despite addressing a highly heterogeneous condition.

Several factors such as genetic susceptibility, autoimmunity, hormones, infections, local trauma, urine, and occlusion have been speculated to play a role in the pathogenesis of lichen sclerosus. We report two male patients with lichen sclerosus around 'ectopic' urethral openings and the opposing surfaces of the penile shaft and scrotum, providing further evidence in support of urine and occlusion as contributing factors in the development of lichen sclerosus.

The aim of this study was to investigate the short- and long-term morbidity and mortality associated with urethral rupture in cats. Medical records were reviewed from four veterinary hospitals. PURPOSE: Pelvic fracture urethral distraction defect is usually managed by the end to end anastomotic urethroplasty. Surgical repair of those patients with post-traumatic complex posterior urethral defects, who have undergone failed previous surgical treatments, remains one of the most challenging problems in urology. Appendix urinary diversion could be used in such cases. However, the appendix tissue is not always usable. We report our experience on management of patients with long urethral defect with history of one or more failed urethroplasties by Monti channel urinary diversion.
