PURPOSE: A new technique for treating meatal stenosis due to balanitis xerotica obliterans was used.

Using Sushruta's lateral perineal approach, 16 primary repairs for complete rupture of the posterior urethra were carried out between January 1987 and November 1991. Stricture of the anastomosis between the bladder neck and membranous urethra after radical prostatectomy can cause significant voiding dysfunction. Of 156 patients undergoing radical prostatectomy for localized prostatic carcinoma 18 had anastomotic stricture for an over-all incidence of 11.5%. Endoscopic removal of bladder stones of all sizes in adults has been discussed and illustrated by 100 cases. 3 different techniques were used to remove the stones viz. (1) extraction by Dormia basket, (2) cystoscopic lithotrity and (3) electronic lithotripsy by Russian-made "URAT 1". Safety and economic advantages to the patients have been discussed.
