BACKGROUND: Bartonella alsatica has been formerly isolated from the blood of wild European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and identified as causative agent of human endocarditis and lymphadenitis. Fleas are known biological vectors for Bartonella sp. BACKGROUND: Sebaceous adenitis (SA) is an uncommon, immune mediated skin disease in dogs. The aim was to retrospectively investigate SA in dogs in Sweden with respect to breed, sex and age distribution. A second aim was to retrospectively compare clinical signs in dogs with generalized SA and to estimate the survival after diagnosis in the English springer spaniel, standard poodle and the akita.

This is the first report of a CARD15 mutation-positive patient with Blau syndrome who exhibited interstitial lung disease, a feature historically considered absent from Blau syndrome, while typical of the adult form of sarcoidosis. This case illustrates the continued evolution of the phenotype of a disease initially conceived as a familial inflammatory granulomatous disease limited to the triad of synovitis, dermatitis, and uveitis.

Twenty patients with fever of unknown origin were found to have idiopathic granulomatosis of the liver, lymph nodes, spleen, or bone marrow. At the time of initial examination, these patients had persistent or recurrent fever and pronounced constitutional symptoms but few physical findings.
