BACKGROUND: Vesicourethral anastomosis stenosis (VUAS) is a well-known complication of prostate cancer treatments, observed in up to 26% of the cases after radical prostatectomy. Conservative management, with single or even repeated transurethral dilation or endoscopic incision of the stenosis, is successful in many cases, but up to 9% of patients are destined to fail after endoscopic treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Among 262 urethroplasties (2001-2010) with ≥6 months of follow-up, we identified 65 patients (24.8%) with recurrence (defined by obstruction in the area of repair on cystoscopy).
