The objective was to determine effects of dietary supplementation of barley sprouts (BS) and/or d-aspartic acid (DA) on the reproductive potential of aged broiler roosters. Birds (n = 32, 50 wk old) were randomly allocated to receive dietary supplements of BS powder (2 % of basal diet), and DA (200 mg/kg BW), both, or neither, for 12 wk. Acrylamide content is elevated in fried, baked and heat-processed starchy foods. The present experiment was conducted to investigate the reproductive toxicity of oral acrylamide in male rats.
