A rapid review of pathways to diagnosis for people living with peripheral artery disease.

Background: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) remains under-recognised. Low awareness among the public, patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs) contributes to delayed diagnosis and poorer outcomes. This rapid review applied the Model of Pathways to Treatment (MPT) to synthesise behavioural and system-level factors shaping the diagnostic pathway and identifies evidence gaps to inform intervention and service redesign. Patients and methods: Databases (CINAHL, PubMed, PsycINFO) were searched (January 2001-July 2024) for qualitative, quantitative or mixed-methods studies exploring PAD diagnosis

A co-produced review of the experiences of Black male detention under mental health legislation: Challenging discrimination in psychiatry using The Silences Framework.

The number of detentions under mental health legislation is growing, disproportionately impacting Black men. Previous research into the over-detention of Black people is repetitive and solutions to reduce disparities are ineffective, not enacted, or outdated. This review is original and novel in using a lived experience lens within the Silences framework, to interpret and validate review findings and make actionable recommendations to enable change, reduce Black men's detention rates and improve experiences. The systematic review searched three databases: EBSCO, ProQuest, and PMC. Search terms

Reproductive decision-making for Barth syndrome carriers: Unexplored complexities.

Reproductive decision-making is a complex process, especially for carriers of a pathogenic X-linked genetic variant. Studies of X-linked carriers have identified various personal values and concerns that influence reproductive decisions, but these studies provide limited insight into decisional conflict during the reproductive decision-making process. This study aims to explore how carriers of variants known to cause Barth syndrome, a rare X-linked disorder, navigate and experience decisional conflict during reproductive decision-making. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 27 Barth

AIM: To develop and prioritize neonatal palliative care educational content tailored for NICU nurses, addressing gaps in current curricula and supporting family-centered, evidence-based practice. METHODS: A three-round Delphi survey was conducted to identify key

Long-Term Evaluation of an Evidence-Based Midwifery Initiated Oral Health Education Program in Australia: A Quasi-Experimental Study.

Past Australian research has identified gaps in midwives' knowledge, confidence and skills to incorporate oral health promotion within routine antenatal care. The Midwifery Initiated Oral Health (MIOH) evidence-based online training program is designed to provide midwives with practical skills required to promote oral health. The long-term effectiveness of the MIOH program on midwives' oral health knowledge and confidence to incorporate oral health promotion into practice was assessed. A pre-post-test design was used with a convenience sample of midwives (pre vs. post and post versus long-term

Prevalence, Associated Factors, and Risk Management Practices of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders Among Registered Nurses in Hospitals in Sarawak, Malaysia.

BACKGROUND: The high prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) among nursing professionals has profoundly affected their quality of life, contributed to absenteeism, and incurred considerable medical cost burdens for the nurses. Caring for many patients, physical handling, demographic characteristics, and psychosocial factors are some of the many causes why nurses frequently report experiencing WRMSDs. The objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence of WRMSDs, the associated factors contributing to WRMSDs, and the risk management practices of WRMSDs among the

How Match-Related Variables Influence the Physical Demands of Professional Female Soccer Players during the Regular Season.

To investigate how contextual or environmental factors may influence the athletic performance of female soccer players during competitions, this study aimed to assess the impact of match-related variables (playing surface; opponent levels; opponent result trends; match status, and match outcomes) on the athletic performance of professional female soccer athletes. Seventeen athletes (25.5 ± 4.3 years of age) from the same team competing in the Italian second division were divided into two groups according to their roles and athletic characteristics: Group A (central defenders and forwards) and

Development and Evaluation of Messages for Reducing Overscreening of Breast Cancer in Older Women.

BACKGROUND: Many older women are screened for breast cancer beyond guideline-recommended thresholds. One contributor is pro-screening messaging from health care professionals, media, and family/friends. In this project, we developed and evaluated messages for reducing overscreening in older women. METHODS: We surveyed women ages 65+ who were members of a nationally representative online panel. We constructed 8 messages describing reasons to consider stopping mammograms, including guideline recommendations, false positives, overdiagnosis, and diminishing benefits from screening due to competin

The psychosocial determinants of adherence to home-based rehabilitation strategies in parents of children with cerebral palsy: A systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: Involving parents of children with cerebral palsy (C-CP) in home exercise programmes (HEP) is globally practiced strategy closely linked to improved physical performance and functional outcomes for the child. Nevertheless, non-adherence to HEP is increasing at an alarming rate, and little is known about the factors influencing adherence to HEP (AHEP) especially in parents of C-CP. This systematic review aimed to identify the factors enhancing AHEP among parents of C-CP to reinforce the efficacy of rehabilitation practices proposed by health professionals, researchers, and educato
