Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a persistent skin disorder involving inflammation and marked by immune dysregulation. Sinomenine, a plant-derived alkaloid with known anti-inflammatory properties, remains underexplored regarding its role in pyroptosis associated with AD. An in vitro AD-like model was established using HaCaT cells stimulated with IFN-γ (10 ng/mL) and TNF-α (10 ng/mL). Sinomenine pretreatment was evaluated for its ability to attenuate inflammation, pyroptosis, and cell damage using ELISA, MTT, LDH assays, flow cytometry, and Western blot. The underlying mechanism was explored via ChIP-

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a multifactorial neurodevelopmental condition shaped by both genetic predispositions and environmental influences. Early-life stresses (ELS), notably maternal separation (MS), can lead to behavioral impairments similar to core ASD features. Recent research indicates that disruptions in the gut-brain axis may significantly contribute to the neuropsychiatric effects of ELS. This study investigates the role of chlorogenic acid (CGA), a plant-derived polyphenol, in a mouse model of MS-induced ASD-like behaviors. Mice subjected to MS were treated with CGA via intra

Periodontitis is a highly prevalent chronic inflammatory disease initiated by dysbiotic biofilms and sustained by an exaggerated host immune response, for which scaling and root planing (SRP) remains the cornerstone of therapy. However, mechanical debridement alone may be insufficient to fully resolve inflammation in complex cases and in susceptible patients. In this context, natural products and host modulatory strategies have emerged as potential adjunctive therapies owing to their antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory properties. This systematic review and meta

The gut-skin axis represents a bidirectional communication network linking the gut microbiota, microbial metabolism, immune regulation, and skin physiology. Natural bioactives derived from dietary plants, mushrooms, fermented foods, marine resources, and functional ingredients may influence skin health through both direct nutritional effects and host-microbiome metabolic interactions. This review provides a microbiome-centered, systems-level perspective on the relationships among dietary bioactives, gut microbial biotransformation, microbiome-derived metabolites, and skin aging-associated phys

Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterial pathogen, is increasingly linked to severe healthcare-associated diseases, from mild skin infections to toxic shock syndrome. Due to limitations in conventional methods, we use computational techniques to screen potential phytocompounds for new drug development and to construct a multiepitope vaccine. Aminoacyltransferase FemA, essential for peptidoglycan formation, was chosen as the target protein for drug and vaccine development. Meanwhile, 1100 phytocompounds were retrieved from 54 plants using the NPASS database and analyzed for drug-likeness and ADMET pr

The ability of tumor cells to survive under low-oxygen conditions is largely attributed to the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) pathway, in which HIF-1α forms a functional complex with the transcriptional co-activators p300/CBP. This interaction drives the expression of genes that promote angiogenesis, metabolic reprogramming, and immune evasion and correlates with advanced disease and poor outcomes in diverse cancer types. In recent years, extensive efforts have sought to disrupt the HIF-1α-p300/CBP axis, leveraging strategies that include blocking protein-protein binding, inhibiting acetyl

Psoriasis is a chronic immune-inflammatory skin disease. Cross-sectional research examining diet quality indices in psoriasis has focused on the Mediterranean diet and is confined to Mediterranean populations, thereby lacking generalisability to other populations. We explored associations between diet quality indices and the likelihood of reporting a higher psoriasis severity. This was an online cross-sectional study recruiting adult volunteers with psoriasis (n 257). A 147-item FFQ evaluated adherence to the Mediterranean diet score, the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension score and the P

The mucosa, as the body's largest immune organ, is involved in various diseases such as ulcerative colitis, respiratory conditions, and tumors. Mucosal delivery offers favorable patient compliance, strong localized therapeutic effects, and the ability to treat a broad spectrum of diseases. However, the multilayered barrier structure of mucosal tissues often hinders effective drug delivery. Although current nanotechnologies have demonstrated some success in overcoming mucosal barriers, they still encounter challenges such as immunogenicity, low stability, high production costs, and difficulties
