The pudendal nerve block (PNB) is widely used for regional anesthesia during obstetric and anorectal procedures, but its role in urologic procedures has not been thoroughly studied. A novel repair of the distal urethra with glanular and preputial reconstruction is described for distal penile hypospadias; 52 consecutive patients underwent this procedure without catheter splintage or urinary diversion. During a 16 year period from January 1972 to December 1988, transvesical prostatectomies were performed on 364 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia in the Department of Urology, Kaohsiung Medical College Hospital. Between 1977 and 1981, 106 children were operated on for hypospadias anomalies. The urological complications associated with 128 consecutive renal transplants performed in the Department of Urology of the University Hosp … ectly due to major urological complications was 5.6%. Minor complications (hydrocele, epididymitis, urethral stricture, urinary calculi) were seen in 9 patients (7%). Lymphoceles were not encountered. INTRODUCTION: Partial penectomy is one of the common organ preserving procedures for penile malignancies and certain benign conditions. Partial penectomy causes psychosexual morbidity to the patient. Dorsal spatulation of urethra is classically done while performing the procedure, it carries risk of meatal stenosis along with compromised cosmesis. Several complex neoglans reconstructive techniques exist to prevent stenosis and improve cosmetic outcomes. We hereby describe outcomes of a simple and reproducible modification of the procedure by ventral spatulation of the urethra.

BACKGROUND: We previously described the production and clinical outcomes of tissue-engineered buccal mucosa (TEBM) used to treat recurrent urethral strictures. In this study, two patients developed a recurrent stricture and there was also evidence of graft contraction.

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to develop a standardised management plan for boys with abnormal appearance of meatus at circumcision for balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO).
METHODS: Between 1995 and 2008, 107 boys underwent circumcision for BXO (confirmed on histology). Of these, 23 had abnormal appearance of the meatus at operation; their case notes were reviewed for age, presenting symptoms, management, outcome and follow up.

OBJECTIVE: To study scrotal microvascularization and apply the findings to the design of reliable skin flaps for reconstructive surgery of complex urethral or panurethral stenoses.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: In 15 cryopreserved male cadavers, scrotal skin vascularization was explored using macro- and microdissections, and the scrotal sac made transparent using the Spalteholtz method. A meticulous descriptive analysis of the arterial network was conducted out in all cases to evaluate the number, distribution and anastomosis of the cutaneous arteries of the scrotum.

Patients with bladder dysfunction comprise over 30% of pediatric patients on renal replacement therapy. We report on a successful cadaveric pre-emptive renal transplantation performed in a boy born with posterior urethral valve. Following bilateral ureterocutaneostomies, left nephrectomy and valve resection, at 6 years of age a continent ileocolonocystoplasty was performed.
