Cherenkov Luminescence Imaging (CLI) is a new method to image radioactive therapeutic and diagnostic agents, primarily in preclinical studies. This study used Geant4 and Python to generate the predicted Cherenkov light production as a function of time for a set of isotopic chains of interest for targeted alpha therapy: 223Ra, 212Pb, and 149Tb. All are shown to produce substantial Cherenkov light, though time delays between initial decays and the production of Cherenkov light requires caution in interpreting CLI.

Fifteen cases of histologically proven hairy-cell leukaemia (HCL) were studied with immunofluorescence, rosette, and phagocytosis techniques. Unfixed hairy cells (HC) bound all kinds of labelled antiserum; but after fixation with formaldehyde a much more selective binding was observed. BACKGROUND: Considerable experimental evidence exists that neointimal hyperplasia after angioplasty is inhibited by gamma-irradiation of the treated arteries. A beta-particle radiation is absorbed in tissue within a shorter distance away from the source than gamma-radiation and may be more suitable for localized vessel irradiation. This study outlines a method to implant a beta-particle-emitting radioisotope (32P; half-life, 14.3 days) into metallic stents. The effects of these stents on the inhibition of neointimal hyperplasia was compared with conventional stents in a rabbit model.

Lengths of long bones of skeletons were examined in 25 women first exposed to large skeletal doses of radiation (alpha particles from radium) at the age of 13--19 years. Mean lengths did not differ significantly between two subgroups based on age at first exposure to radiation (i.e., 13--16 vs. 17--19 years).
