AIM: To create awareness of Kawasaki disease in the dental community as it is a rare disease and some cases might go unnoticed due to lack of knowledge of the treating dentist. Thus proper knowledge helps in the timely diagnosis of the disease and decrease the mortality rate in these patients. Children who show the oral features of this disease should be treated seriously by the dentist.
BACKGROUND: Kawasaki disease is a rare acute systemic vasculitis disorder reported in the dental literature. Clinical features include high fever, redness of palms and soles of the feet, conjunctivitis, oroph

Understanding which techniques parents prefer, and how these preferences relate to demographics and dental anxiety, is essential for guiding clinician-parent and supporting informed decision-making. OBJECTIVE: To assess the acceptance of twelve behavior-guidance techniques (BGTs) among Egyptian parents of younger (3–6 years) and older (7–12 years) children. Additionally, the study aimed to examine whether parental acceptance is influenced by reported level

INTRODUCTION: Unmet health care needs are considered a key indicator of equity in access to health care. For younger people, they can lead to poorer health outcomes in adulthood, for older people, they are associated with an increased risk of mortality. Unmet needs were therefore investigated as part of a research project on "Improving the health-related life situation of young and old people in the Ruhr area."
METHOD: Unmet health care needs were surveyed with the help of semi-structured guideline interviews with younger and older people in the Ruhr area (n=29). Due to the spatial and social

BACKGROUND: Sodium fluoride (NaF) is a daily necessity consumed as the major ingredient of fluorinated drinking water, milk, salts, mouthwashes, toothpaste, and dentistry medications. However, the use of NaF products has also been associated with increased fluoride anion distribution in the body, leading to hypertension.
AIM: This study evaluated the antihypertensive effect of sweet orange peels-enriched white melon seed protein concentrate (WSP) biscuit meal in eight-week-old albino rats exposed to NaF for 14 days.
METHODS: Forty-two (42) male Wistar albino rats were assigned at random into

Background/Objectives: Adenoid hypertrophy (AH), one of the most common pathologies in children, is a major cause of mouth breathing. Mouth breathing causes dry mouth, which removes the beneficial effects of saliva necessary for oral health. Therefore, an oral microflora favorable to caries is promoted. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the oral health of children diagnosed with AH between the ages of 3 and 14 and to determine the early childhood oral health impact scale. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted between November 2019 and November 2020, involving 16 boys a

INTRODUCTION: The hormonal fingerprint is the ratio between 2(nd) and 4(th) digit lengths. It was evidenced in the medical scenario that it can be used as an indirect marker in many diseases like Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and metabolic syndromes. As far as dentistry is concerned very few studies in the literature have been done to evaluate the influence of hormonal fingerprint on oral health, thus provoking us to formulate new method for predicting dental caries and malocclusion and its association with Body Mass Index (BMI).
AIM: The purpose of this retrospective study was to highlight th

The removal of tissues affected by caries lesions is one of the most frequent procedures in daily dental practice. The aim of this study was to collect information about the habits of members of the academic and non-academic dental community in Argentina regarding the use and conditioning of burs employed in the removal of dentin during the treatment of carious lesions. A 14- item questionnaire was prepared, and once validated in small groups, it was sent to three lists of dental subscribers through the computer services area of the School of Dentistry, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (F

BACKGROUND: Anxiety about dental treatment or behaviour management problems can be a barrier to its uptake in children. Sedation can be used to relieve anxiety and manage behaviour, unfortunately it is difficult to determine from published research which agents, dosages and techniques are effective.
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the relative efficacy of the various conscious sedation techniques and dosages for behaviour management in paediatric dentistry.
