PURPOSE: The management of subglottic stenosis (SGS) remains challenging. Although laryngotracheal reconstruction with a costal cartilage graft (LTR) has been widely performed, restenosis with cicatricial tissue may require long-term stenting, especially in patients with severe SGS. An anterior cricoid split (ACS) with long-term stenting has been shown to be useful for patients with mild SGS. Thus, we evaluated the clinical outcomes of patients, including severe SGS, who underwent ACS compared to those with LTR.

In this study, we develop a new technique to fabricate a reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-based microelectrode array (MEA) with low-cost soft lithography. To prepare patterned rGO, a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) mold with an array of microwells on its surface is fabricated using soft lithography, and GO is assembled on an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode with a layer-by-layer method. BACKGROUND: Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is indicated for patients with recalcitrant chronic rhinosinusitis symptoms. However, surgical revision can be required because of adhesion formation and middle turbinate lateralization. We investigate the efficacy of a middle meatal silastic stent in reducing these complications after ESS.
METHODS: Thirty-six patients were randomized to receive a silastic stent in the middle meatus unilaterally after ESS. The surgeon was blinded to the side receiving the stent until completion of the ESS. The contralateral side, with no stent, was the control side.
