BACKGROUND: Anal manometry is routinely used in the assessment of the anal sphincters in patients with fecal incontinence or suspected sphincter injury. Such physiological information is complementary to the anatomical assessment provided by anal endosonography. The evolution of 3-dimensional anal endosonography provides more diagnostically useful information in complex cases. We report four cases of leiomyosarcoma of the rectum suspected by endoscopic ultrasonography. Three patients were treated by local excision and one by abdominoperineal resection. An excision of the mass via a Kraske's approach was used. Leiomyosarcoma confined to the rectum wall can be treated by local excision. Endosonography can provide exact estimation of the lesion and is of great value in selecting the appropriate treatment. The treatment is surgical excision with wide margins. A case of primary hyperparathyroidism sustained by an unusually large parathyroid adenoma is presented. The tumor affected a 45-year-old woman with a 15-year history of nephrolithiasis and presented as a palpable neck mass. We report a rare case of a 52 year old patient with multiple gastric wall abscesses. In 1987 a selective proximal vagotomy was performed.
