CASE DESCRIPTION: A 14-year-old 8.2-kg (18.04-lb) castrated male Cairn Terrier with chronic keratoconjunctivitis sicca in the left eye was evaluated because of severe blepharospasm and a black plaque of 3 weeks' duration.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: Abnormalities of the left eye included a decreased Schirmer tear test value and the presence of a brownish-black plaque in the center of the cornea. The plaque was surrounded by fibrovascular tissue except at the medial aspect where there was mild malacia of the adjacent corneal stroma.

PURPOSE: To report a case of severe bilateral phlyctenular keratoconjunctivitis (PKC) associated to hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).
CASE REPORT: A 26-year-old male with reactivation of HS in the last few months presented with concurrent pain and vision loss secondary to bilateral PKC resistant to topical treatment. Two swine herds housed in confinement had high prevalences of conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis. Necropsies were performed on 7 pigs (2 to 8 weeks old) with mucopurulent conjunctivitis from one farm and on 1 sow with keratoconjunctivitis from another farm. Six monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against Moraxella bovis GF 9 were used to quantify haemagglutinating adhesins of 16 strains of this organism. The amount of each MAb necessary to inhibit one haemagglutinating unit of each strain varied between 4 and 0.007 times that required by strain GF 9. Five strains reacted with six MAbs, one with five, two with four, one with three, two with two and three with none. The procedures used enabled to detect dominant strains candidates for vaccines.

Keratoconjunctivitis affected many ewes on a large, experimental husbandry, hill farm in early and midwinter in two consecutive years.
