Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of malignant lymphoma affecting about 14,000 patients per year in Japan. Recent progress in molecular genetic investigation has clarified the underlying mechanism of this heterogeneous disease applied to therapeutic developments. R-CHOP therapy was established as a standard regimen for DLBCL and provides a cure in many patients. However, about 30-40% of patients still develop relapsed/refractory (R/R) disease. The development of effective treatments for R/R DLBCL patients is thus an urgent issue. The development of immunotherapy for

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is one of the most common non-Hodgkin lymphomas. It has no typical or specific clinical features. DLBCL revealed by an abscess is a rare entity. CT is sensitive in detecting splenic abscesses, and it can define the exact location and extent of the abscess as well. The splenic abscess is associated with typhoid fever, AIDS, abdominal infections, pneumonia, bacterial endocarditis, and urogenital infections, parasitic abscesses, organ transplantation, or neoplastic diseases. DLBCL is not usually related to its etiology. Elective open splenectomy, both diagnos

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) constitutes the most frequent subtype of all non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. DLBCL is an aggressive disease and extranodal involvement is seen in approximately 30% of patients and most common extranodal sites are gastointestinal tract and skin. Skin involvement may be either primary or secondary. Secondary cutaneous lymphoma has a worse prognosis. The case is here reported of a 56-year old male DLBCL patient with cutaneous lesions and aggressive clinical course. The patient had no skin lesions at diagnosis and during follow up and treatment period, skin, cerebros

We report a case of a 74-year-old man with a cluster of differentiation (CD) 7-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in the right nasal cavity. Flow cytometry analyses showed CD7 and CD20 positivity in tumor cells. The patient received 6 cycles of R-CHOP plus local radiation therapy because positron emission tomography-computed tomography after R-CHOP revealed an intranasal lesion. The patient achieved complete remission (CR) after radiation therapy. The frequency of CD7-positive DLBCL is rare, and only 11 cases with follow-up of clinical course have been reported thus far. CR or part

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is an aggressive, fast-growing form of non-Hodgkin disease with rare manifestation in mandible as a primary site. Absence of pathognomonic features in this localization often leads to misdiagnosis as an odontogenic process or its delayed diagnosis. The present case report is of a patient in whom non-odontogenic jaw pain mimicked a toothache prompting multiple dental interventions before persistence of pain and atypical findings led to consideration of a primary malignant etiology.

Membranous nephropathy (MN) is a common glomerular disease that is characterized by diffuse thickening of the glomerular basement membrane, and a common cause of nephrotic syndrome (NS). MN is often accompanied with malignant disease; The solid tumors are commonly associated with MN, whereas hematological malignancies are rarely found in patients with MN. A 68-year-old man with a history of diabetes mellitus visited a hospital with a chief complaint of general fatigue. He was previously not diagnosed with any complications of diabetes. Computed tomography revealed a pancreatic tumor, and the p

Ovarian lymphoma, whether a primary or secondary condition, is very rare. Little is known about its genetic aberrations. Here, we reviewed the clinical, morphological and immunohistochemical characteristics of nine ovarian diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cases and performed fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) analysis to detect MYC, BCL2 and BCL6 translocations. We also performed whole exome sequencing analysis to determine their genomic features compared with those of conventional extranodal DLBCL. The results showed that six of nine cases were bilateral and three cases were left-

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical outcome of the patients with primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL).
METHODS: Clinical data of 148 patients with DLBCL in our hospital and cancer hospital from March 2006 to April 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to estimate progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS).
RESULTS: 5-year OS and PFS rates were 85% and 69%,respectively. The survival analysis showed that 5-year OS rate of R-CHOP group was significantly higher than that of CHOP alone group(89% vs. 70%,P<0.05). In univariate analysis, several cl

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in the elderly was revised from the category EBV-positive DLBCL not otherwise specified in WHO 2017. The prognosis of this lymphoma is very poor. We report a case of an 82-year-old woman diagnosed with gastric EBV-positive DLBCL (WHO 2008). Gastroduodenoscopy revealed multiple ulcers and fold thickening. She was followed-up without any treatment because of her old age. Repeat endoscopy one year and eight months later revealed a single ulcer with no lymphoma cells found in a biopsy specimen. Two years later, the lesion had

BACKGROUND: The knowledge about specific mechanisms generating TP53 dysfunction in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is limited. The aim of the current study was to comprehensively explore TP53 gene variability resulting from somatic mutations, promoter methylation, and allelic imbalance in tumorous tissue of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
METHODS: DNA samples from 74 patients with DLBCL were used. Genomic DNA was isolated from paraffin blocks of lymph nodes or from extranodal biopsies of tumors by the phenol-chloroform extraction method with guanidine. Analysis of coding sequences of the

A 58-year-old man with a history of rheumatoid arthritis and stage IV diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, in complete remission with no evidence of residual disease on positron emission tomography/CT after completing six cycles of rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone chemotherapy, presented with acute onset of dysphagia to solids and liquids. On further evaluation, his dysphagia was attributed to a vagus nerve palsy, and later during his admission, he developed rapidly progressing left facial and vestibulocochlear nerve palsies. Imaging studies displayed pathological

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) remains the most common non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in developed countries. Up to 30-40% of patients experience either refractory or relapsed disease following receipt of front-line chemoimmunotherapy, and the majority of these patients will not be cured following receipt of subsequent therapy.
RECENT FINDINGS: Small-molecule inhibitors (SMIs) are an attractive class of therapeutics for patients with chemorefractory DLBCL, and early-phase studies with these agents have typically demonstrated prolonged periods of disease control in respon

RATIONALE: Lymphomas are the second most common non-epithelial malignant tumors in the oral and maxillofacial region. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) develops at extranodal sites, and cases involving the maxilla account for less than 1% of all NHLs. We describe a case of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in the maxilla, and highlight the clinical signs, symptoms, differential diagnosis, and appropriate treatment of DLBCL in the oral cavity and maxillofacial region.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 67-year-old woman was admitted to our surgical department with pain and swelling in her right upper posterio

BACKGROUND: PCDH10, one of the non-clustered protocadherins, is identified as a tumor suppressor gene in many tumors. Recently, promoter methylation of PCDH10 was found in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) but not in normal lymph nodes, suggesting that its epigenetic aberrance is essential to the lymphomagenesis. However, there are few studies on the clinicopathological relevance and prognostic significance of PCDH10 methylation status in DLBCL.
METHODS: One hundred-seven cases of DLBCL between Jan 2009 and Jul 2010 were selected to extract genomic DNA and perform bisulfite modification.
