BACKGROUND: Lipedema is a chronic disorder characterized by excessive, bilateral, and symmetrical deposition of subcutaneous adipose tissue, predominantly in the lower extremities. Despite its prevalence, lipedema is frequently misdiagnosed as lymphedema, and lymphoscintigraphy is commonly used to differentiate between the two.
