In the present effort, 144 pesticide applicators and 49 urban control subjects who reported no chronic disease were studied. Applicators provided records of the season's pesticides used by product, volumes, dates, and methods of application. Subacute thyroiditis (SAT), or granulomatous thyroiditis, is an inflammatory thyroid condition associated with pain and systemic symptoms. Few community studies are available. We studied the 160 patients with SAT in Olmsted County, Minnesota, seen between January 1, 1960, and December 30, 1997. Mortality surveys and death certificate studies have suggested an association between leukemia and farming. Validity and reliability of a short physical activity history were assessed in two studies. Validity was studied in 2766 women and 2303 men, participants in CARDIA, a biracial study. In a study designed to assess personality patterns of patients with chronic insomnia, a total of 528 subjects (428 insomniacs and 100 controls) completed the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). OBJECTIVE: To examine whether quantity and quality of outside of schooltime (OST) activities are associated with substance use among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and beyond (LGBTQ+) youth.
METHODS: Data came from the Minnesota Student Survey, administered January-June 2022 in public, tribal, and charter schools in Minnesota, United States. These same habitats are home to other invertebrates, including Crustacea-fairy shrimp, isopods, and amphipods-and mollusks-fingernail clams and freshwater snails.
