OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the treatment of unstable lateral malleolar fractures using a fibula nail with both proximal and distal locking capabilities.
DESIGN: Retrospective review of 110 single-surgeon consecutive fibula nails.
SETTING: Single-surgeon, private practice community hospital.
PATIENTS/PARTICIPANTS: One hundred ten fractures, 92 OTA/AO 44B and 18 OTA/AO 44C.

BACKGROUND: This study describes the outcomes of internal bone transport with magnetic nails in five cases of traumatic segmental femoral bone defects.
METHODS: Five patients with open fracture of the femur and diaphyseal bone loss were included between May 2018 and August 2020. The mean femoral defect was 8.7 cm (range 5.6-16.0).

BACKGROUND: Interest around carbon/PEEK plates and nails has been raising. The elastic modulus close to the bone, the high load-carrying capacity and radiolucency make CFR/PEEK materials a potential breakthrough. In the literature, there are abundant data about CFR/PEEK plates in the treatment of proximal humerus, distal radius and distal fibula fractures. A retrospective review was conducted to examine rates of malreduction and nonunion in ipsilateral femoral neck and shaft fractures using different fixation strategies.
