It is known that at sites of acute inflammation there is increased ground substance formation and fibroblast proliferation. There is also increased serum glycoprotein following localized acute inflammation. Neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer derived from cells of neural crest origin. The hallmarks of its enigmatic character include its propensity for spontaneous regression under some circumstances and its association with paraneoplastic opsoclonus, myoclonus, and ataxia. The neurodevelopmental underpinnings of its origins may provide important clues for development of novel therapeutic and preventive agents for this frequently fatal malignancy and for the associated paraneoplastic syndromes. BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Neuroblastoma (NB) detected by mass screening (MS) usually shows favorable prognosis and sometimes regresses spontaneously. Therefore, the authors started an observation program for these patients to avoid overtreatment. The ultrasonographic (US) findings of 25 infant cases detected by the Japanese mass screening program for neuroblastoma (NB) were reviewed. The following results were obtained: An identification of the primary site was possible in 96% of the cases with abdominal US. INTRODUCTION: In the management of pancreatic cystic neoplasms (PCN), size plays a crucial role as the expression of disease progression. While many evidences regarding the natural history of growing pancreatic cysts exist, almost no data are available regarding cysts with a reduction in size.
METHODS: Radiological and clinical data from patients of the dedicated pancreatic cysts outpatient clinic of the Department of General and Pancreatic Surgery, University of Verona Hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Patients diagnosed with PCNs reducing in size during follow-up were reviewed.

Maxillofacial hemangiomas in young infants can be effectively detected and treated at prophylactic health centers before the tumor progressively grows, this helping do without hospital treatment.
