The level of cholecystokinin and secretin in 50 patients after cholecystectomy (from 1 to 10 years ago) was analyzed to study connection between cholecystectomy and gastrointestinal hormones concentration. 30 patients with gall bladder stone disease were included into the group of comparison. Cholecystectomy is an effective treatment of gallstones. Nevertheless, recurrence of biliary symptoms following cholecystectomy, either laparotomic or laparoscopic, is quite common. Causes are either biliary or extrabiliary. Symptoms of biliary origin chiefly depend on bile duct residual stones or strictures. Rarely, they depend on stone recurrence in a gallbladder remnant. BACKGROUND: Among a myriad of physiological adverse affects of pneumoperitoneum-associated intra-abdominal hypertension, compromise of the mesenteric circulation is well documented.
METHODS: After experiencing a case of fatal small bowel ischemia in the aftermath of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the literature was reviewed.
RESULTS: A Medline and Index Medicus search revealed at least 6 cases of small bowel ischemia following laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
CONCLUSIONS: Mesenteric ischemia should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients developing nonspecific abdominal symptoms

BACKGROUND: Persistent abdominal pain after cholecystectomy is not uncommon. Sphincter of oddi dysfunction (SOD) is one of the causes for this entity. However, diagnosing SOD is often difficult. Sphincter of oddi manometry (SOM) is the gold standard. Because it is invasive and needs experienced person to perform, simple noninvasive imaging techniques are needed. A case of "sump syndrome", occurred in our department, suggested the discussion about the opportunity of endoscopic operative procedures in choledocholithiasis and in biliary tract surgery complications. Improvement of endoscopic operative procedures allow extensive indication of ERCP sphincterotomy instead of traditional choledochoduodenostomy or transduodenal papillosphincterotomy. Additionally, operative endoscopic procedures are good alternative to reoperation for traditional biliary tract surgery complications.

to justify the role of biliary insufficiency (BI) in the development of disorders of bone mineral density (BMD) in patients with cholelithiasis and after cholecystectomy, to introduce with main methods of diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and osteopenia in biliary pathology. Recent literature data showed that development of BI in the CL and PS leads to malabsorption of vitamin D and thereby contribute to the development of osteoporosis and osteopenia. Actinomycosis of the gall bladder, cholecystic duct or common bile duct is rare, with only 16 cases reported to our knowledge. We report a case of actinomycosis in the cholecystic duct remnant of an 80-year-old woman with a history of cholecystitis, choledocholithiasis and cholecystoduodenal fistula requiring cholecystectomy and fistula closure three years prior. Richter's Hernia is an unusual form of herniation. The incarceration accompanying the hernia invariably leads to bowel ischemia. Chronic incarceration of the antimesenteric border of the intestine, presenting with a long-standing history of signs and symptoms with no dire consequences is unusual. We present a case with a typical acute presentation, and the only case we are aware of with a chronic incarceration leading to a true diverticulum of the hepatic flexure.
