Psychometric Characteristics of the Hebrew Version of the Professional Quality-of-Life Scale.

CONTEXT: Exposure to human suffering may have ramifications for the professional quality of life (ProQol) of palliative care teams. The ProQol scale was designed to assess both negative and positive work-related outcomes and has been used recently for the evaluation of work-related outcomes among palliative care workers. However, the assessment of ProQol among Israeli hospice workers is scant. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to assess the psychometric properties and the factor structure of the Hebrew version of the 30-item ProQol questionnaire. METHODS: The study population included 11

Exploratory Factor Analysis and Psychometric Properties of the Sexual Coercion Inventory.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Sexual Coercion Inventory (SCI; Waldner, Vaden-Goad, & Sikka, 1999), revised by the authors (SCI-R). Overall, 514 high school and college students from a Midwestern state completed the SCI-R. To complete the SCI-R, high school participants completed paper-pencil surveys with those younger than 18 obtaining parental consent; college students older than 18 completed computer-based and paper-pencil surveys. Exploratory factor analysis and reliability analyses were conducted to examine the validity of score interpre

A psychometric investigation of "macroscopic" speech measures for clinical and psychological science.

The analysis of vocal expression is a critical endeavor for psychological and clinical sciences and is an increasingly popular application for computer-human interfaces. Despite this, and despite advances in the efficiency, affordability, and sophistication of vocal analytic technologies, there is considerable variability across studies regarding what aspects of vocal expression are studied. Vocal signals can be quantified in a myriad of ways, and their underlying structure, at least with respect to "macroscopic" measures from extended speech, is presently unclear. To address this issue, we ev

Inpatient and Day-Clinic Experience Scale (IDES) - a Psychometric Evaluation.

OBJECTIVES: The Inpatient and Day-Clinic Experience Scale (IDES) was developed to assess common factors in a multimodal psychotherapy setting from the patients' perspective. The questionnaire measures different aspects of therapeutic relationships, a positive self-view and a critical attitude towards therapy. METHODS: Three samples (total N = 821) were used to evaluate the psychometric properties and factor structure of the questionnaire. RESULTS: Confirmatory analyses show a good model fit and support the proposed structure with 25 items and seven scales. In addition, reliability indices we

The Child PTSD Symptom Scale: An Investigation of Its Psychometric Properties.

The current study addresses the need for accurate measurement of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in youth by investigating the psychometric properties of the Child PTSD Symptom Scale (CPSS). The factor structure, reliability, and concurrent and discriminant validity of the CPSS were investigated in a sample of 206 6th- to 12th-grade adolescents. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis supported a single-factor structure, which was contrary to the hypothesized three-factor structure. Scores comprising this one-factor structure were also associated with high reliability (α = .

Psychometric properties of the Iranian version of the premature ejaculation diagnostic tool.

INTRODUCTION: Premature ejaculation (PE) is one of the most prevalent male sexual problems. The Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT) is a suitable patient-reported outcome measure for the assessment of PE. AIM: To examine the psychometric proporties of a translated and culturally adapted version of the PEDT in a sample of Iranian men suffering from PE. METHODS: Two independent samples were compared, one including patients with PE based on the DSM-IV-TR criteria (n = 269) and the other including healthy men without PE (n = 289). A backward-forward translation procedure was used to tra

Levels of autistic traits in anorexia nervosa: a comparative psychometric study.

BACKGROUND: A number of characteristics associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are over-represented among patients with Anorexia Nervosa (AN) as well as among relatives of these patients. Yet the co-occurrence of autistic traits in AN has not been fully explored and no previous study has directly compared self-reported evaluations of cognitive and socio-affective skills in AN and ASD. METHODS: We aimed to determine the degree of overlap between AN and ASD from scores on questionnaires classically used to measure ASD impairments. Fifteen AN participants, 15 ASD participants and two gr

[Psychometric properties of the French version of the How I Think Questionnaire].

UNLABELLED: Certain research has pointed out the relative importance of cognitive distortions in the development of antisocial behavior. Distortions of social cognitions that facilitate aggression and other types of antisocial behavior have been described as self-serving cognitive distortions (Barriga et al., 2001 [2]). Considering the importance of the assessment of delinquent cognitive distortions, an instrument has been validated to measure self-serving cognitive distortions: the How I Think Questionnaire (HIT-Q, Barriga et al., 2001 [2]). Thus, the aim of the present study was to evaluate

A psychometric evaluation of the panic disorder severity scale for children and adolescents.

The Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS; Shear et al., 1997) is a well-validated measure that assesses symptoms of panic disorder with or without agoraphobia (PDA) in adults. The Panic Disorder Severity Scale for Children (PDSS-C) is an adaptation of the PDSS for youth ages 11-17. The current study evaluated the psychometric properties of the PDSS-C. Participants included 60 adolescents from a randomized controlled trial investigating the efficacy of an intensive cognitive behavioral treatment (CBT) for adolescent PDA. Convergent and discriminant validity of PDSS-C scores were evaluated via ob

Psychometric assessment of a self-administered version of the Significant Other Survey.

While there are a number of general measures that assess interpersonal and psychological distress experienced by individuals who are in a close relationship with a substance abusing adult, until recently the field has lacked a psychometrically sound, self-administered multidimensional measure explicitly designed to measure the problems of non-substance-abusing adults who are concerned about a substance using loved one. This study examined the psychometric properties of a 54-item, self-administered (SA) version of the Significant Other Survey (SOS), a measure designed to address this gap. The S
