The top 100 most cited peer-reviewed publications on global neurosurgery: Mapping research trends and gaps over four decades.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to highlight the landscape of global neurosurgery (GNS) literature through a bibliometric analysis of the 100 most cited peer-reviewed publications. The objectives were to identify publication trends, citation patterns, authorship, and collaboration networks within GNS research over the past four decades. Reporting of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor trial safety: an observational analysis of ClinicalTrials.gov registrations and journal publications.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors have gained prominence over the last decade due to their multif … ality (ACM), and the number of deaths. We analyzed the consistency of data between the registry and publications. RESULTS: In 176 included trials, comparisons of safety data between ClinicalTrials.gov and corresponding publications indicated discrepancies for the total number of patients with SAE in 70 (40%) trials, for the reported overall number of SAEs in …

Temporal linguistic shifts in oncology randomized controlled trials following large language model availability: A corpus analysis of 21,392 publications.

BACKGROUND: Public availability of large language models (LLMs) from late 2022 has raised concerns about AI-assisted writing in scientific publishing. Oncology randomized controlled trials (RCTs) underpin cancer treatment guidelines and regulatory decisions worldwide, yet whether linguistic changes have followed the emergence of LLMs has not been examined at scale. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective corpus linguistics analysis of 21,392 oncology RCTs indexed in PubMed (2019-2026), stratified into pre-LLM (2019-2022; n = 11,308) and post-LLM (2023-2026; n = 10,084) eras. A Bibliometric Analysis of Bariatric Surgery in Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: Research Trends and Influential Publications (2000-2024).

In recent decades, sedentary lifestyles and Western dietary patterns have contributed to the rise of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). While lifestyle interventions and pharmacotherapy are first-line treatments, bariatric surgery has emerged as a highly effective option, particularly for severe obesity and NAFLD-related cirrhosis. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Web of Science Core Collection (SCI-EXPANDED) from 2000 to 2024. After exclusions, 1077 English articles were analyzed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace for co-authorship, keyword co-occurrence, and trend analysis.

Research landscape and trends of internet addiction disorder: A comprehensive bibliometric analysis of publications in the past 20 years.

BACKGROUND: Internet addiction disorder (IAD) has emerged as a significant public health concern in the digital age, with implications for mental health and social wellbeing. Despite growing recognition, IAD remains a relatively nascent field within academic research. METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to explore the global research landscape and trends of IAD. Our methodology involved analyzing author analysis, journal analysis, keywords, and citations in publications related to IAD from 2004 to 2024. RESULTS: We identified "internet addiction," "internet gaming dis…

BACKGROUND: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a severe birth defect characterized by significant infant mortality and morbidity. While numerous articles have been published on CDH, little is known about the characteristics of the most impactful articles. In this study, we aimed to identify and characterize the most important publications in the CDH field from a bibliometric perspective. METHODS: Articles addressing CDH were retrieved in October 2024 from the Web of Science™ and ranked by citation number. The top 100 publications were analyzed for their bibliometric parameters including…

The Global Seroprevalence of Equine Brucellosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Based on Publications From 1990 to 2022.

Brucellosis, a bacterial infection caused by Brucella spp., is a widespread zoonosis concerning human and animal health. In equines, brucellosis may occur asymptomatically or with clinical signs such as arthritis, bursitis, and tenosynovitis. This study aims to ascertain the overall seroprevalence of equine brucellosis and its related factors, including geographic region, serological detection method, equine's species, gender, age, and body condition. This is because equine brucellosis is a zoonotic infection with significant epidemiological implications. The systematic literature search was c

Analysis of the spatial distribution of scientific publications regarding vector-borne diseases related to climate variability in South America.

Most vector-borne diseases exhibit a distinct seasonal pattern, which clearly suggests that they are weather sensitive. Rainfall, temperature, and other climate variables affect in many ways both the vectors and the pathogens they transmit. Likewise, climate can be determinant in outbreaks incidence. A growing number of studies have provided evidence indicating the effects of climate variability on vector-borne diseases. However, oftentimes, the different diseases and regions are not uniformly represented, scarcity or lack of publications in some countries is common. The objectives of this wor…

The effect of the 2003 Consensus Reporting Standards on publications describing patients with vestibular schwannoma treated with stereotactic radiosurgery.

In an effort to promote a uniform standard for reporting clinical results, the Consensus Meeting on Systems for Reporting Results in Acoustic Neuroma was convened in 2001, and the results of this meeting have been summarized by Kanzaki et al. in 2003. We describe publication compliance to these reporting parameters in a systematic analysis of publications obtained through a comprehensive literature search on patients with vestibular schwannoma (VS) treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). Each publication was scored based on whether it had properly reported each of eight elements describe…
