The World Health Organization and the United Nations have increasingly acknowledged the importance of urban green space (UGS) for healthy ageing. However, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) like India with exponential ageing populations have inadequate UGS. This qualitative study examined the relationships between UGS and healthy ageing in two megacities in India. Participants were recruited using snowball sampling in New Delhi and Chennai and semi-structured interviews were conducted with consenting participants (N = 60, female = 51%; age > 60 years; fluent in English, Hindi, or Tamil).

Estimating environmental lead exposure using ecologic risk models is an inexpensive strategy to inform public health departments and to develop location-based intervention strategies such as targeted screening and mitigation. Social cohesion has varying effects on health. We investigated the association of perceived neighborhood social cohesion with HIV viral suppression using individual-level data from the New York City HIV registry and surveillance-based interviews (n = 92). Suppression was achieved within 12 months of HIV diagnosis by 60 percent of persons perceiving low cohesion and 71 percent of those perceiving high (p = 0.31). Approximately two-thirds of the US population is overweight or obese. Physical activity is recommended for preventing obesity, aiding in weight loss, and decreasing rates of chronic diseases. This article reviews current statistics for obesity, physical activity, and physician counseling patterns. Principles of exercise physiology relating to cardiopulmonary fitness and chronic disease are also reviewed and methods for increasing physical activity in adults and children are suggested.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the internal validity of the subscales of the combined SCL-90 and SCL-90R, the SCL-92, by item response analyses as compared with several previously reported factor analyses of this questionnaire in the literature.
