Gap junctions are important components of signal communication in sensory systems. In the retina, connexin 36 (Cx36) gap junctions integrate visual signals over space and time. However, we do not understand how Cx36 gap junctions in the inner- and outer-retina govern visual thresholds under dim light conditions. Motion sickness is a well known nausea and vomiting syndrome whose physical signs occur during travel by sea, automobile, airplane, and space. This review describes current concepts concerning the aetiology, nature and therapy of this common phenomenon. Motion sickness involve a neural mismatch or confusion between the vestibular, visual, and proprioceptive systems. Therapy is directed towards decreasing conflicting sensory input, controlling nausea, and speeding the process of adaptation.

Keratitis solaris is caused by ultraviolet radiation in the range 200-320 nm. The threshold dose for keratitis solaris is 40 J/m2 for short-term exposure. The relationship between the number of digital nerves sutured and sensory recovery was investigated in 50 fingers of 33 patients, with follow-up of more than five years after replantation of the amputated fingers.
