Cysticercosis is a zoonotic disease, caused by the larval form of pork tapeworm Taenia solium. This disease is a public health problem in a country such as India, but its incidence is likely underestimated. With the advent of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) with rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE), early detection of this disease is possible, especially when the lesion is in anatomically approachable superficial locations. A light microscopical study was done to demonstrate the effect of dehydration on the glomerular granular cells in the neonatal rat renal corpuscles. Sprague-Dawley gravid albino rats were used. Their neonates were given nothing per mouth for the first 24 h following birth and used thereafter. Semithin, toluidine blue stained sections of Araldite-embedded tissue were studied. The cytologic patterns in toxic goiters treated with carbimazole were studied. Most cases exhibited changes, especially the unusually large nuclei, that could be mistaken for malignancy in panoptic-stained material. Peroral staining with tolonium chloride (toluidine blue) was performed in 45 patients with suspected gastric ulcer disease. During endoscopy, 19 of 21 malignant ulcers and one of 15 benign ulcers were stained. Following surgery, 18 of 21 malignant ulcers found in the surgical specimens were stained. Intermediately differentiated mast cell tumors in two dogs were subcutaneously xenotransplanted into severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mice. Both tumors primarily grew and were serially transplantable in SCID mice. The histological features of the xenografts were similar to those of original tumors in dogs. Of 86 patients diagnosed as having vulvar dystrophy in a 10-year period 56 (65.1%) had hyperplastic dystrophy, 23 (26.7%) had lichen sclerosus and 7 (26.7%) had mixed vulvar dystrophy. In Japan, several workers were diagnosed with bladder cancer 10-40 years after exposure to 4,4'-methylenebis(2-chloroaniline) (MOCA), mainly through the skin.
