A case of Burkitt's lymphoma involving the tonsil in a 10-year-old Bedouin boy, is presented. The biological behaviour and the clinical presentation of this unusual neoplasm are discussed and the English language literature is reviewed. The diagnosis was made by histological examination, electron microscopy and confirmed by immunohistochemistry. The patient showed an excellent symptomatic response to surgery and chemotherapy.

A case of lymphogranuloma venereum of the tonsillar lymph tissue is presented. The similarities of tonsils to cervical lymph nodes are discussed and the importance of histological examination of abnormal tonsil tissue is reiterated.

The tonsils and adenoids are secondary lymphoid organs which have evolved to protect the human host against microbial invaders entering the … cous secretions to protect the human host. The changes in these secretions as a result of recurrent tonsillitis and hypertrophy of the adenoids and tonsils are discussed. Because these are part and parcel of the defence system of the body, their surgical removal may deprive the human host of one of its defence systems.

A 42-year-old patient with an ulcerative left tonsil that was not particularly painful was examined. The routine blood test for syphilis was reactive. The patient was found to have a chancre of the left tonsil. Painless ulcers of the left tonsil in a sexually active individual should be considered as possibly syphilitic.

Salivary tumors that involve the tonsil are rare, representing 0.5% of salivary neoplasms. Most tumors arise from the parotid glands. Rare studies have been reported in the literature regarding pleomorphic adenomas affecting the tonsil. Patients are usually asymptomatic and present with a slow-growing, mobile and painless mass. Radiological examinations are usually unable to differentiate benign from malignant tumors in most cases. There is low recurrence with complete excision of the tumor. Anisakiasis is a parasitic infection caused by ingesting raw or undercooked fish and seafood infected with Anisakis larvae. BACKGROUND: The surgical trainee has to acquire surgical skills in an era of reduced training hours and greater demands for efficient use of operating theatre time. Many surgical specialties are utilising model and simulation-based training to provide safe, low-pressure training opportunities for today’s trainee.
METHOD AND RESULTS: This paper describes a simple, relatively inexpensive tonsillectomy model that enables the practice of tonsil removal and ligation of bleeding vessels. The model is beneficial for the patient, trainee and trainer.
CONCLUSION: The pseudo mouth and active bleeding

Lymphangioma of the palatine tonsil is a rare, benign lesion that presents as a tonsillar outgrowth and causes symptoms related to irritation and airway obstruction. Histologically, the mass has abundant dilated lymphatic channels amid a fibrous stroma with lymphoid and adipose elements. There are several theories regarding the pathogenesis of these lesions, and the appropriate diagnostic classification is controversial. Because a lymphangioma may resemble a true neoplasm of the palatine tonsil clinically, the lesion must be removed for accurate histologic diagnosis and to rule out malignancy.
