Two patients with a radically operated well differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma (WDNC) of the lung who developed a carcinoid syndrome due to metastatic spread of the tumor are reported. Treatment with somatostatin analogue octreotide was administered to both patients following their refusal of a standard chemotherapic regimen. Prompt resolution of the carcinoid syndrome was observed in both following octreotide treatment and both patients are alive and well after more than four years without evidence of further progression of the tumor. This retrospective study analyzed medical records of 1,392 people living with HIV (PLWH) diagnosed with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) at two provincial central hospitals from 2011 to 2022. LTBI was diagnosed in 152 patients (10.9%) patients aged ≥18 years. Untreated acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) is a rapidly lethal blood cancer. Conventional treatment consists of all-trans retinoic acid and chemotherapy. Standard chemo-therapy-containing treatments necessitate the use of blood products. This is a case report of typical APL in a 32-year-old female patient, who due to religious conviction refused supportive therapy with blood products. A treatment regimen consisting of all-trans retinoic acid and arsenic trioxide was successful without the use of blood transfusions.

INTRODUCTION: Renal echinococcosis is of rare occurrence, and although often asymptomatic, it can present with various mild to drastic presentations, of which hydatiduria is pathognomonic. Diagnosis can be preliminarily established by imaging, and treatment is primarily surgical. We present a patient with renal echinococcosis treated successfully with exclusive antiparasitic pharmacotherapy after refusing surgery despite extensive renal involvement. We hope through this report to help establish future solid guidelines regarding this uncommon therapeutic approach.

OBJECTIVE: To compare long-term outcomes in patients after carotid endarterectomy and those who refused surgical correction and received only conservative treatment.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: There were 1035 carotid endarterectomies performed at the Kemerovo Regional Clinical Hospital and Kemerovo Regional Clinical Cardiology Dispensary for the period 2014-2017.
