We present the case of a 33-year-old parturient who required caesarean delivery at 31 weeks' gestation. She had a history of degenerative disease of the lumbar spine secondary to tuberculosis, acquired as a child in India. Her complex medical history also included ischaemic heart disease and obstructive sleep apnoea, and due to this general anaesthesia was considered to be of high risk. However, regional anaesthesia also posed significant challenges because magnetic resonance imaging of the spine showed a partial collapse with subsequent fusion of second and third lumbar vertebral bodies with

INTRODUCTION: Non-invasive bladder cancer is effectively treated with intravesical BCG therapy. The administration of the BCG vaccine is to destroy the neoplastic lesion or prevent further recurrences. The activity of the vaccine involves boosting the immune system through the stimulation of the inflammation in the bladder. Adverse reactions after this immunotherapy are rare. The aim of the study was to present complications in the form of spinal tuberculosis and serious neurological symptoms that occurred during intravesical BCG immunotherapy for carcinoma of the bladder. The manuscript also

This is a case report of spinal tuberculosis which could not be diagnosed in the early stages. Individuals who work in hospital settings and suffer from psychological stress need to be aware of the various hospital acquired infections and consequences of late diagnoses. A CT scan is indicated to rule out the spinal involvement, at the beginning of a severe backache, which does not respond to painkillers, rest, and if X-ray is normal. It is of immense help and much of the problems like paraplegia and morbidity which are associated with this kind of extra - pulmonary tuberculosis, could be avoid

BACKGROUND: Spinal tuberculosis (TB) in pregnancy is rare and poses diagnostic, neurological, and obstetric challenges. Data are limited to isolated case reports and small series, precluding evidence-based guidance on management and outcomes. This review aims to systematically review reported cases of spinal TB in pregnancy, summarize maternal and fetal outcomes, and perform a descriptive pooled synthesis of reported live births and maternal neurological recovery.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Scopus, (inception-October 2025) identified case reports and ser

BACKGROUND: Frailty is a common geriatric syndrome in older adults and is closely associated with adverse outcomes such as prolonged hospitalization, functional decline, and mortality. Older patients with spinal tuberculosis often experience chronic inflammatory consumption, malnutrition, and activity limitation, which may contribute to a higher frailty burden. However, evidence on early identification of Fried frailty in this specific population remains limited.
OBJECTIVE: To develop and bootstrap internally validate a single-center model for identifying Fried frailty in older patients with

INTRODUCTION: The commonly recognized causes of post-operative neurological deterioration in spinal tuberculosis are inadequate decompression, damage to vascular supply of the spinal cord, and multi-drug resistant organisms. There are no known cases of syringomyelia developing after surgical decompression of spinal tuberculosis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A teenage girl presented with rapid onset quadriparesis secondary to a tubercular epidural abscess extending from C4-T8. The neurological status deteriorated to quadriplegia immediately following decompression by hemilaminectomy at C7 and T7 levels.

We aimed to describe clinical, laboratory, diagnostic and therapeutic features of spinal tuberculosis (ST), also known as Pott disease. A total of 314 patients with ST from 35 centres in Turkey, Egypt, Albania and Greece were included. Median duration from initial symptoms to the time of diagnosis was 78 days. The most common complications presented before diagnosis were abscesses (69%), neurologic deficits (40%), spinal instability (21%) and spinal deformity (16%). Lumbar (56%), thoracic (49%) and thoracolumbar (13%) vertebrae were the most commonly involved sites of infection. Although 51% o
