Autologous lipoaspirate as a new treatment of vulvar lichen sclerosus: A review on literature.

Lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that mostly affects the genital and anal skin areas. Symptoms may vary from pruritis and pain to sexual dysfunction; however, LS can also be asymptomatic. LS occurs at all ages and in both sexes. Approximately 5% of all women affected by vulvar LS will develop vulvar squamous cell carcinoma. Topical treatment is safe but less effective resulting in chronic course in most patients, who suffer from persistent itching and pain. In severe cases of therapy-resistant LS, there is no adequate treatment. Fat grafting is a novel regenerative th

Differential Diagnosis between Bartholin Cyst and Vulvar Leiomyoma: Case Report.

Genital leiomyomas are rare tumors that can often be misdiagnosed as Bartholin cyst. We report a case of a 32-year-old patient who had a cystic nodulation in the left labium majus that was suggestive of Bartholin cyst. A resection surgery was performed, and the definitive histopathology diagnosis was vulvar leiomyoma. The macroscopic features of cystic lesions difficult the differential diagnosis between leiomyoma and Bartholin cyst; therefore, a histopathologic examination is often recommended.

Lichen sclerosus: a review and practical approach.

Lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic dermatitis predominantly found in the anogenital area. It can be found in patients of any age group, sex, or race, but is most commonly present in Caucasian peri- or postmenopausal women. Although the etiology of LS remains uncertain, an autoimmune process is believed to underlie this condition. With many cases going unreported, its incidence is still unknown. There is no cure for LS, but treatment offers control of the condition. They are three reasons for treating LS: relief of symptoms and discomfort; prevention of any or further anatomical changes; and a

Normal histology and nomenclature of the vulva, and malignant neoplasms, including VIN.

In this article, vulvar anatomy and histology are reviewed, and nonneoplastic and neoplastic epithelial disorders are presented. Included are lichen sclerosus, squamous cell hyperplasia, vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia, vulvar Paget's disease, and squamous cell carcinoma. Risk of anogenital cancer after diagnosis of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia: a prospective population-based study.

BACKGROUND: The first vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV)-related disease is now available. Although it has been designed and tested mainly to protect against cervical lesions, it is also expected to be effective against other anogenital cancers. Associations between HPV and vaginal, vulvar, and anal cancers are well established, but the full extent in terms of age and time since diagnosis of these associations is not well known. METHODS: We established a cohort of all women in Sweden who were aged 18-50 years at some timepoint from 1968 to 2004. Using national registration numbers, we

Mammary-like Carcinoma of the vulva: A diagnostic challenge.

Mammary-like carcinoma of the vulva is incredibly rare with less than 30 cases published since 1935, and the similarities of such pathology between breast cancer metastases, squamous adenocarcinoma, Bartholin gland carcinomas, etc, make an accurate diagnosis challenging. A diagnosis can be made utilizing immunohistochemical staining and patient history to rule out more likely causes such as metastases to ensure a correct diagnosis.

[Benign tumors of vulva: review and case report of achrocordon].

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to examine the socio-demographic factors associated with measles vaccination coverage among Indonesian children aged 12-23 months, using data from a nationally representative survey. METHODS: A cross-sectional analysis was conducted using the 2018 Indonesian Basic Health Survey (Riskesdas), including 19,425 children aged 12-23 months. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with measles vaccination status, and subgroup analyses were performed across three regional clusters. RESULTS: Of the children surveyed, 73.46% had received me

Dermatoscopy and Optical Coherence Tomography in Vulvar High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions and Lichen Sclerosus: A Prospective Observational Trial.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine potential discriminatory characteristics of dermatoscopy and dynamic optical coherence tomography (D-OCT) on vulvar high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (vHSIL) and lichen sclerosus (LS) compared with healthy vulvar skin. METHODS: A prospective observational clinical trial was performed in 10 healthy volunteers, 5 vHSIL and 10 LS patients. Noninvasive imaging measurements using dermatoscopy and D-OCT were obtained at several time points, including lesional and nonlesional vulvar skin. Morphologic features of vHSIL and LS were compared with healthy

Personalised cutout saddle selection reduces perineal pain and improves cycling comfort in women with vulvar skin conditions.

Perineal pain limits sitting and bicycling comfort in women with chronic vulvar conditions, reducing functional mobility and physical activity. This study evaluated personalised ergonomic saddle solutions to reduce perineal pain and restore cycling ability. Fifty women (age 57 ± 14 years) with lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, or vulvar cancer participated in a pre-post intervention study. In an outpatient living lab setting, participants evaluated four cutout saddle designs, received posture advice, selected a saddle, and tested it at home for 1-3 months. Outcomes included saddle pressure and

Actinomyces israelii may produce vulvar lesions suspicious for malignancy.

BACKGROUND: We present a case of Actinomyces israelii causing vulvar mass suspicious for malignancy in a postmenopausal woman. CASE: A 60 year-old woman presented due to a firm, nonmobile, 10 cm vulvar mass, which had been rapidly enlarging for 5 months. The mass was painful, with localized pruritus and sinus tracts oozing of serosanguinous fluid. Biopsy and cultures revealed a ruptured epidermal inclusion cyst containing granulation tissue and Actinomyces israelii. CONCLUSION: Actinomyces israelii may produce vulvar lesions that are suspicious for malignancy. Thus, biopsies and cultures are
