Long-term stability of early implant placement with contour augmentation.

In this prospective case series study, 20 patients with an implant-borne single crown following early implant placement with simultaneous contour augmentation were followed for 6 years. Clinical, radiologic, and esthetic parameters were assessed. In addition, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) was used at 6 years to examine the facial bone wall. During the study period, all 20 implants were successfully integrated, and the clinical parameters remained stable over time. Pleasing esthetic outcomes were noted, as assessed by the pink esthetic scores. None of the implants developed mucosal reces

Timing of dental surgery in patients receiving bone-modifying agents: Medication related osteonecrosis of jaw (MRONJ) and implant outcomes in a cohort of 5,284 oncology patients within an integrated dental pathway.

BACKGROUND: Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) is an important toxicity of bone-modifying agents (BMAs). Guidelines recommend dental assessment and risk reduction before high-dose antiresorptive therapy, but real-world data on outcomes by timing of dental procedures relative to BMA therapy remain limited [1-4]. This study evaluated MRONJ and implant outcomes according to the timing of dentoalveolar surgery within an integrated oncology-dental pathway. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 5,284 consecutive patients referred for dental evaluation in the context of

Consensus Statement on Full-Arch Implant Rehabilitations: Evidence-Based Recommendations from the Italian Consensus Conference.

Full-arch implant-supported rehabilitations are widely recognized as an effective treatment option for edentulous patients. Nevertheless, clinical decision-making regarding patient selection, surgical planning, prosthetic material choice, and long-term maintenance protocols remains heterogeneous and requires structured evidence-based guidance. A modified Delphi consensus process was conducted involving 29 experts during the Italian Consensus Conference. A systematic literature review covering the period 2015-2024 was performed, and the certainty of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Re

Interventions for replacing missing teeth: treatment of perimplantitis.

BACKGROUND: One of the key factors for the long-term success of oral implants is the maintenance of healthy tissues around them. Bacterial plaque accumulation induces inflammatory changes in the soft tissues surrounding oral implants and it may lead to their progressive destruction (perimplantitis) and ultimately to implant failure. Different treatment strategies for perimplantitis have been suggested, however it is unclear which are the most effective. OBJECTIVES: To identify the most effective interventions for treating perimplantitis around osseointegrated dental implants. SEARCH STRATEGY
