Validation of field-based running tests to determine maximal aerobic speed in professional rugby league.

Practitioners place importance on high-speed running (HSR) to monitor training practice and match-play demands, whilst attempting to maximise fitness and minimize the risk of injury occurrence. Practitioners apply various methods to quantify HSR, such as absolute thresholds, percentage of maximum sprint speed and maximal aerobic speed (MAS). A recent survey demonstrates the 5-minute run and 1200m shuttle test (ST) to be implemented among rugby league practitioners to quantify HSR by incorporating MAS. However, it is unclear as to how valid these methods are to accurately quantify MAS. Therefor

Paediatricians' perspectives in treating lower urinary tract symptoms: a qualitative exploratory needs assessment study.

BACKGROUND: Paediatric lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) are common experiences among school-aged children, with prevalence rates reaching as high as 20%. Paediatricians are often first-line stakeholders in providing treatment for these bothersome symptoms, yet there is no formal resource to support them with the treatment of LUTS. Evaluating paediatricians' experiences is an important step in informing health promotion efforts to improve health outcomes in children. This study aims to explore paediatricians' knowledge, beliefs, practice patterns, and perceived barriers and facilitators in p

Enablers to high vaccination uptake among a disadvantaged minority population: a qualitative study of the Arab population of Israel.

BACKGROUND: Over 1.9 million Arabs live in Israel and constitute 21% of the total population. Despite being a disadvantaged minority population with wide gaps in health indicators, Arabs have higher Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination rates compared with the general Jewish population. METHODS: In-depth interviews with 21 health care providers, 16 Arab mothers, and 16 teenagers were conducted to collect information about health system enablers to HPV and MMR vaccination. All interviews were conducted in Arabic by an Arab researcher, audio-recorded, tran

Applying the Project ECHO Model to Support Implementation and Sustainment of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis.

INTRODUCTION: Project Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) is a teleconsultation model that leverages technology to sustain specialized interventions in underresourced settings. We present the application of the ECHO model to longitudinal training and consultation for community behavioral health providers learning to deliver cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis, an evidence-based psychotherapy for individuals with psychotic disorders that has poorly penetrated the US mental health system. METHODS: We analyzed within-group change over practitioners' 6-month ECHO participati

Perceptions and experiences of women with a history of gestational diabetes mellitus: A qualitative evidence synthesis.

Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is strongly associated with the future risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Women with GDM have a 10 times higher risk than women without GDM over a 10-year follow-up period. The objective of this review is to synthesise the existing evidence regarding women's views and experiences of the emotional and practical impact of GDM and its implications for diabetes prevention. Findings will be used to inform the design of interventions to prevent or delay T2DM. A systematic review of qualitative studies was conducted searching PubMed, MEDLINE, Science Direct,

BACKGROUND: According to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) symptoms of illness and capacity limitations must be kept apart and assessed separately. Psychological capacities are more important than physical capacities in today's world. Patients with neurological disorders not only show limitations in physical but also in psychological capacities. As in many cases there is comorbidity of neurological and mental disorders the question is to what degree this can increase psychological incapacity. METHODS: Using a cross-sectional study design, neurologic

Preferences for methadone clinics among drug users in Vietnam: a comparison between public and private models.

BACKGROUND: Methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) has been proven to be effective in treating opioid dependence. In Vietnam, MMT services are provided primarily by public clinics, with only one private MMT clinic established in recent years. Assessing the preferences of patients for different MMT models is important in evaluating the feasibility of these models. This study measured the preferences of drug users enrolling in public and private MMT clinics in Vietnam and examines the related factors of these preferences. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed on 395 participants at 3 me
