The paper concerns similarities and differences between childhood schizophrenia and schizophrenia of the adults from the standpoint of the genealogical background in the respective families. The degree of loading by manifest psychoses and the typology of nonmanifest disturbances among the parents of probands with an unfavorable development of early childhood schizophrenia was studied. The data obtained demonstrate heterogeneity of this form of childhood schizophrenia, confirmed as well by genealogical studies in a comparative age aspect.

A total of 46 psychopathic personalities from 30 to 55 years of age were studied. Of them 40 subjects were examined by follow-up checkings. Using previously obtained data concerning the effectivity of amedin in motor and speech disorders due to muscular dystonia the drug was used for the treatment of 50 children from 3.5 months to 18 years, with motor disorders of an extrapyramidal and labyrinth nature. A high therapeutical effectivity of amedin in an increased pathological activity of tonic cervical and labyrinth reflexes in infants and in torsion spasm of school age children is demonstrated.

The author studied 82 patients with brain cystocercosis (male--48 and females 34 cases). Cystocercosis was most frequently encountered in individuals from 21--50 years of age. The rural population constituted 74% while the urban--26%. The report contains data on the characteristic symptoms of brain cystocercosis and its differential diagnostical signs with brain tumors. The authors analyse changes seen in the EEG and secondary dysfunction of the brain stem structures in patients with acute disorders of circulation in the brain hemispheres. On the basis of implicative analysis of the clinico-morphological and EEG data the authors come to the conclusion on the existence of significant EEG criteria in secondary dysfunctions of brain stem structures on the different stages of its development. The significance of EEG in differential diagnosis of primary and secondary brain stem lesions is stressed.

The author discusses 40 cases of suicidal attempts in children and adolescents with depressive states of a different nosological affinity. Special attention was drawn to the different traits of a depressive syndrome connected with the formation of suicidal tendencies. The data obtained demonstrate that the degree of a suidal risk depends not only on the depth and quality of depressions, but on the nosological and syndromal traits. A special role in the genesis of a suicidal attempt belongs to supplementary psychotraumatizing factors.
