INTRODUCTION: Lupus erythematosus (LE) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease, that can affect the skin to varying degree. In particular, discoid LE (DLE) and the rare form of lupus panniculitis/profundus are associated with scarring alopecia. BACKGROUND: Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease that can have cutaneous and systemic manifestations. Lupus panniculitis, also known as lupus mastitis, is a subset of chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus that involves inflammation of the subcutaneous fat. BACKGROUND: Reports of non-anaplastic peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) in pediatric patients are relatively rare.
PROCEDURE: We performed a retrospective analysis in patients with PTCL over an 18-year period (1991-2008).

We reported a case of a 22-year old female with a microscopic form of polyarteritis nodosa (PN) who initially manifested Behçet's disease-like symptoms, such as fever, arthralgia, oral aphtha and erythema nodosum, and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis (RPGN). BACKGROUND: Epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma (EPPK) is characterized by diffuse hyperkeratosis affecting palms and soles with suprabasal epidermolysis or vacuolar degeneration histopathologically. The disorder is caused by heterozygous mutations in KRT9 or KRT1. Dominant-negative mutations in KRT1 could also result in epidermolytic ichthyosis with EPPK, a more severe entity affecting the entire body.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the genetic basis and pathogenesis of two unrelated patients with EPPK and knuckle pads, both of whom were born to consanguineous parents of Chinese origin.
