Three members of a family are described who have a curious facies due to a severely depressed nasal bridge, anteverted nostrils, wide-set eyes, high myopia, and short stature. The facial appearance is due to faulty development of the ethmoid bone, which also causes a short anterior cranial fossa. One member of the family was autistic and had a cleft palate. These cases closely resemble, but are thought to be distinct from, a family described by Marshall (1958) whose members had a similar facies which appeared to be due to a defective maxilla, deafness, myopia, and cataracts which were subject

The novel goose parvovirus (NGPV), an emerging variant of goose parvovirus, is the causative agent of short beak and dwarfism syndrome (SBDS) in ducks, posing a substantial threat to the global waterfowl industry. There is an urgent need for safe and convenient vaccines that can effectively induce mucosal immunity. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of an oral vaccine based on recombinant Lactococcus lactis (L. lactis) expressing the major capsid protein VP3 of NGPV, with or without fusion to duck interferon-alpha (IFNα). Codon-optimized genes e…

Karrikin (KAR) signaling plays crucial roles in plant development, regulating key traits such as photomorphogenesis, root hair development, … arries a premature termination mutation, displays defective phenotypes including reduced seed size, dwarfism, and delayed flowering. In contrast, the Mtsmax1ΔQ210 mutant, harboring a single glutamine deletion at position 210, exhibits specific defects only in seed development. These phenotypic differences indicate a previously unreported role of MtSMAX1 in …

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Fowl adenovirus (FAdV) is the etiological agent of inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) and hepatitis-hydropericardium syndrom … vely and the eggs were incubated for five days for viral isolation.
RESULTS: The embryos exhibited dwarfism, beak atrophy, and pale claws. In addition, some embryos displayed edema and gelatin-like characteristics. The liver exhibited hepatomegaly and multiple necrotic foci, resembling the appearance of nutmeg. In addition, the kidneys appeared enlarged a …
