A 77-year-old woman who had severe symptomatic aortic stenosis and was a high risk for conventional surgery underwent transcatheter aortic valve implantation by means of the transfemoral approach. Vertebroplasty with hydroxyapatite blocks through a modified percutaneous approach was used to treat 30 patients with vertebral body fractures in 32 vertebral bodies between February 2003 and March 2007. Pulmonary artery pseudoaneurysm is an unusual complication of surgically implantable central venous port catheters. We experienced a case of a 57-year-old man with gastric malignancy, in which a port catheter had been previously implanted for chemotherapy. Because of a puncture site that was also medial for the subclavian vein, the catheter tip fractured between the first rib and the clavicle, and embolized in the left pulmonary artery, which caused a 5 x 4 cm pseudoaneurysm that mandated surgical resection with a lobectomy. The diagnostic work-up and a review of the literature are presented.

PURPOSE: This article provides a review of the disarticulation resection of the mandible for various benign and malignant tumors and non-neoplastic processes. In so doing, the author proposes a classification to describe extension of pathology into the condylar region, thereby requiring its sacrifice.
