The algorithm of the otorhinolaryngologist's actions in nasal bleeding (NB) in acute leukemia (AL) patients is presented. Some aspects of NB pathogenesis in AL are considered. A working classification and an original technique of nasal tamponade using the drug tahocomb in AL patients with nasal bleeding are proposed.

A procedure was developed for the modification of basic pancreatic trypsin inhibitor (BPTI) by N-hydroxysuccinimide esters of oleic and stearic acids in a DMSO-DMF-dioxane-pyridine mixture with a temporary citraconyl protection of the amino group belonging to its active site. Recent studies from mice, rats and humans have shown that the sodium retention depends on urinary serine proteases and that it can be mitigated by blockers (amiloride, triamterene) of the epithelial sodium channel ENaC. Smooth muscle responses to kallikrein (EC 3.4.21.8) are generally considered to result from kinin formation. In the present study, this premise was reexamined with respect to the isolated rat uterus. Rat submandibular gland kallikrein produced contractions of the rat uterus but the contractions disappeared after successive additions of the same dose of the enzyme to the preparation.
