Implant-supported overdenture placement after fibula flap-based mandibular reconstruction using guided bone regeneration with titanium mesh and tenting screws: A clinical report.

A 63-year-old man underwent segmental mandibulectomy for ameloblastoma, followed by fibula free-flap reconstruction. As the bone volume was inadequate, guided bone regeneration (GBR) was performed using iliac particulate cancellous bone and marrow, titanium mesh, and tenting screws. After consolidation, 4 implants were placed, and restoration was completed with a computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing titanium bar and LOCATOR-retained overdenture. This staged approach ensured stable implant placement and successful rehabilitation. At 1 year postoperatively, the patient's appear

Measuring multifidus muscles atrophy after midline lumbar fusion with cortical bone trajectory screws due to spinal instability and spondylolisthesis: a retrospective case series.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to assess the impact of midline lumbar fusion with cortical bone trajectory screws (MIDLF/CBT) on the multifidus muscles, focusing on the evaluation of their postoperative atrophy. CLINICAL RATIONALE FOR THE STUDY: MIDLF/CBT is a relatively new technique increasingly used to treat spinal instability. Despite its reduced invasiveness compared to traditional posterior lumbar interbody fusion with traditional pedicle screws (PLIF/TP), concerns remain about potential damage to the multifidus muscles that are crucial for spinal stability. Understanding the extent of

Olecranon stress fracture treated with headless compression screws and bone marrow aspirate concentrate augmentation: a case report and systematic review of the literature.

BACKGROUND: Several surgical techniques have been described to treat olecranon stress fractures (OSFs), most commonly involving the use of cannulated screws placed perpendicular to the fracture line of the olecranon. However, hardware removal, infection, and pain are common. This study presents a novel surgical approach and investigates the current literature surrounding the use of headless compression screws (HCSs) in the surgical management of OSFs. METHODS: A search of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, CINAHL, MedLine, and SportDiscus was performed by three reviewers using search terms "Screw" AND

Biomechanical comparison of sustained dynamic compression and static screw fixation in subtalar arthrodesis: A benchtop synthetic bone study.

BACKGROUND: Subtalar arthrodesis depends on interfragmentary compression and rotational stability to promote fusion. Conventional screws can lose preload as interface resorption and construct settling occur. Sustained dynamic compression (SDC) devices are designed to maintain preload, but comparative data are limited. PURPOSE: To compare construct-level compression, tolerance to simulated settling/resorption, and inversion rotational stiffness between a superelastic NiTiNOL sustained dynamic compression (SDC) device and a conventional static compression screw across three commonly used subtal

A novel bone screw implantation strategy in C1-2 instability: a framework for evolving high cervical spine surgery.

Fixation surgery for atlantoaxial instability (AAI) or atlantoaxial subluxation is recognized as a complex and high-risk procedure, prompting the development of various fixation techniques. In this preliminary study, we evaluated the safety and accuracy of C1-2 pedicle screw insertion using our developed planning software and 3D-printed guiding templates. We also analyzed feasibility with free-hand techniques to identify an optimal strategy for atlantoaxial fixation. We used a self-developed 3D planning method, along with guiding template techniques, for pedicle screws in high cervical vertebr
