Intercepting Endometrial Cancer: Opportunities to Expand Access Using New Technology.

Although endometrial cancer is often diagnosed at an early curable stage, the incidence and mortality from endometrial cancer is rising and minority women are particularly at risk. We hypothesize that delays in clinical presentation contribute to racial disparities in endometrial cancer mortality and treatment-related morbidity. Improved methods for endometrial cancer risk assessment and distinguishing abnormal uterine bleeding and postmenopausal bleeding from physiologic variation are needed. Accordingly, we propose a multipronged strategy that combines innovative patient education with novel

Academic continuity planning in higher education.

Crisis planning in institutions of higher learning has focused largely on emergency management, physical safety and technology recovery. While these are clearly important, many aspects of planning for continuity have largely been ignored, including planning for the post-secondary education sector's core business, that is, the delivery of graduate and undergraduate academic programmes. Use of the term 'academic continuity' as a component of institutional planning is relatively new in higher education. Discussions on academic continuity have often centred on the use of technology-enhanced educat

The AI Adaptation Paradox: Navigating Professional Relevance and Sustainable Integration in Nursing.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated across nursing education, practice, research, and healthcare systems, yet its long-term sustainability, economic viability, and organizational implications remain uncertain. This raises the question of how the profession should adapt when both rapid integration and cautious delay carry risk. In this discussion paper, I introduce two concepts to examine that question. The AI adaptation paradox describes the simultaneous pressure on nursing to accelerate AI integration to preserve professional relevance while operating under substantial technolo

The changing face of dental education: the impact of PBL.

The past decade has seen increasing demands for reform of dental education that would produce a graduate better equipped to work in the rapidly changing world of the twenty-first century. Among the most notable curriculum changes implemented in dental schools is a move toward Problem-Based Learning (PBL). PBL, in some form, has been a feature of medical education for several decades, but has only recently been introduced into dental schools. This paper discusses the rationale for the introduction of a PBL pedagogy into dental education, the modalities of PBL being introduced, and the implicati
