Tannic acid inhibited the growth of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Growth medium supplementation with more nitrogen or metal ions showed that only iron ions could restore the maximal growth rate of S. cerevisiae. In this work, biomimetic scaffolds designed to mimic the microstructure of human skin were fabricated by electrospinning using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), sodium alginate (SA), and hydroxyapatite-dysprosium oxide (Hap/Dy2O3). BACKGROUND: Topical therapy, particularly with chlorhexidine, is becoming increasingly common as a treatment option for canine pyoderma; however, there are limited studies on the susceptibility of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius to chlorhexidine compounds.
OBJECTIVES: To determine the in vitro susceptibility of both meticillin-resistant and meticillin-susceptible S. pseudintermedius isolates to chlorhexidine and other antiseptic agents and the presence of multidrug efflux pump genes.

Many anticancer drugs, such as doxorubicin (DXR), intercalate into nuclear DNA of cancer cells, thereby inhibiting their growth. However, it is not well understood how such drugs interact with mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA).
