Skin Electrical Resistance as a Diagnostic and Therapeutic Biomarker of Breast Cancer Measuring Lymphatic Regions.

Skin changes associated with alterations in the interstitial matrix and lymph system might provide significant and measurable effects due to the presence of breast cancer. This study aimed to determine if skin electrical resistance changes could serve as a diagnostic and therapeutic biomarker associated with physiological changes in patients with malignant versus benign breast cancer lesions. Forty-eight women (24 with malignant cancer, 23 with benign lesions) were enrolled in this study. Repeated skin resistance measurements were performed within the same session and 1 week after the first me

Performance of interferon-gamma release assays in patients with inflammatory bowel disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Guidelines mandate screening for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) prior to anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) therapy in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, many are already on immunosuppressive therapy (IST) that may affect the precision of the Tuberculin skin test (TST). Our aim was to assess the performance of the new interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs) to detect LTBI in patients with IBD. METHODS: MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched (up to June 2011) to identify studies evaluating the performance of IGRAs (QuantiFERON-TB Gold [QFT-2G], QuantiFERON-

Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy targeting GPR87: Development of a humanised anti-GPR87 mAb and therapeutic efficacy on a lung cancer mouse model.

BACKGROUND: GPR87 is a G-protein receptor that is specifically expressed in tumour cells, such as lung cancer, and rarely expressed in normal cells. GPR87 is a promising target for cancer therapy, but its ligand is controversial. Near-infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) is a novel cancer therapy in which a photosensitiser, IRDye700DX (IR700), binds to antibodies and specifically destroys target cells by irradiating them with near-infrared-light. Here, we aimed to develop a NIR-PIT targeting GPR87. METHODS: We evaluated the expression of GPR87 in resected specimens of lung cancer and maligna

BACKGROUND: Nowadays, patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis are treated with conventional immunosuppressants or with new biological agents. Phototherapy is the first-line treatment for patients in whom topical therapy is insufficient. Although numerous studies have been carried out, it is still difficult to predict the outcome of phototherapy in individual patients. METHODS: Prior to standard narrow band (NB) ultraviolet B (UVB) phototherapy, the patients filled out a questionnaire about personal life and health status. Several standard blood tests, including selected cytokine levels, we

Outcomes With First-Line PD1 Inhibitors in Extranodal NK/T-Cell Lymphoma: A Comparative Analysis From a 755-Patient Multicenter Cohort.

Although programmed cell death 1 inhibitors (PD1i) are recommended in guidelines for relapsed/refractory extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), their role in frontline therapy remains unclear. In this retrospective, multi-center study of 755 newly diagnosed ENKTL patients, 17.9% received first-line PD1i. Despite harboring more adverse risk features, the PD1i group showed significantly improved progression-free survival (hazard ratio = 0.62, p = 0.007) and overall survival (hazard ratio = 0.55, p = 0.027) after a median follow-up of 32.9 months. The benefit was also observed in key subgroups (n
