BACKGROUND: Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) avulsion fractures pose unique technical challenges for surgical fixation in the pediatric and adolescent population. Both arthroscopic and open management have been pursued; nonetheless, the literature is devoid of comparative studies elucidating factors for technique selection or relative outcomes.
PURPOSE: To compare the demographic characteristics, presenting features, clinical course, return to sports (RTS), patient-reported outcomes (PROs), and complications associated with open and arthroscopic fixation cohorts of pediatric patients who sus

OBJECTIVE: Posterior cruciate ligament tibial avulsion fractures (PCLTAF) are characterized by complex injury mechanisms and treatment difficulties, with no standardized diagnostic or therapeutic guidelines currently available. This study aims to establish a classification-based Bundle-Weaving Zonal Fixation system to facilitate the precise treatment of PCLTAF.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 100 patients with PCLTAF treated across multiple centers between 2016 and 2022. Based on fracture morphology, fragment characteristics, bone quality, and the extent of posterior ligame

Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD) disrupts phosphorus and calcium metabolism, leading to skeletal disorders such as demineralization, weakened bones, and an increased fracture risk. These disorders, known as renal osteodystrophy, vary widely and are classified into secondary hyperparathyroidism, adynamic bone, and osteomalacia based on bone turnover. Fracture risk increases with the severity of CKD, particularly in advanced stages (creatinine clearance <15-20 mL/min), but even patients with mild to moderate CKD are at risk of fractures. Fractures of the Lesser Trochant

BACKGROUND: The objective of the arthroscopic treatment in tibial spine avulsion fractures (TSAF) is to achieve firm reduction and strong internal fixation while still having the patient undergo a minimally invasive procedure.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study was performed on 12 young patients with avulsion fracture of the anterior tibial spine. All 12 patients had type 3 Modified Meyers and McKeever fractures. The injury mechanism was direct anterior to posterior trauma in full leg length hyperextension with sport trauma reported in all cases. The physical examination revealed decreased range

A shortcut review was carried out to investigate whether avulsion fractures of the base of the fifth metatarsal were best treated with tubular bandage, a walking boot or a short leg plaster cast. One paper presented the only evidence to answer one of the clinical questions (plaster cast or walking boot) but no evidence was found comparing tubular bandage and a walking boot. The author, date and country of publication, patient group studied, study type, relevant outcomes, results and study weaknesses of this paper are tabulated. It is concluded that while the only evidence available shows margi

INTRODUCTION: To investigate the feasibility and clinical efficacy of using a toothed plate and hollow lag screw in the surgical treatment of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) avulsion fractures of the tibia.
METHODS: A total of 21 patients were treated with open reduction and internal fixation using a toothed plate and hollow lag screw, through a posteromedial approach using an inverted L-shaped incision. The patients were allowed appropriate functional exercises, including knee flexion and extension, after removal of the plaster at postoperative weeks 3-6. The follow-up period was between s

CASE: This report presents an extremely rare case of a femoral neck fracture dislocation with associated complete hip abductor avulsion. The patient was treated with open reduction of the dislocation, open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) of the femoral neck, and repair of the hip abductors. The patient initially healed but developed avascular necrosis (AVN) requiring conversion to total hip arthroplasty at 3 years. A Harris Hip Score was 92 eleven years after injury.
CONCLUSION: We recommend prompt, anatomic ORIF of the femoral neck fracture dislocation, direct repair of the hip abductor c

Calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fractures are rare injuries predominantly occurring in elderly women with osteoporosis. Although lag screw fixation has been widely employed, fixation failure remains a significant concern in osteoporotic bone, and no consensus on the optimal fixation method has been established. A 69-year-old woman sustained a right heel injury. Radiographs and computed tomography revealed a Beavis type I calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fracture. Osteosynthesis was performed using cannulated cancellous screw fixation combined with a knotless suture bridge (SpeedBridge). Weight-bear

Anterior cruciate ligament tibial eminence avulsion fracture may result in knee instability if not properly treated. Arthroscopic treatment has shown favorable clinical outcomes. Currently, high-strength suture fixation through the tibial tunnel and anchor suture-bridge technique are widely used surgical techniques. Although the suture-bridge technique exhibits superior biomechanical properties compared with high-strength suture fixation, it presents challenges in anchor placement and risks anchor dislodgement from cancellous bone, potentially resulting in fixation failure. To address these li

BACKGROUND: Ogden type V tibial tubercle avulsion fracture is an unusual type of physial injury. Thus, little is known about its mechanism of injury and treatment. The type of osteosynthesis is variable and depends on the experience of the surgeon. We commonly used cancellous screws fixation combined with tension band wiring for displaced fracture of the anterior tibial tuberosity.
CASE PRESENTATION: The present manuscript describes a case of a Han nationality 13-year-old boy who presented with severe pain of the left knee, which began after landing following a high jump. He had no significan

INTRODUCTION: Tibial plateau fractures are very complex articular fractures with a rare incidence of approximately 10.3%. These fractures may constitute a severe injury to the knee joint and other complications.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 23- year-old male injured his right knee after a crush accident and was diagnosed with a posterio-latero-central (PLC) sheared fracture of the tibial plateau without an injury to knee ligaments. CT with a reconstruction of the right knee showed that the fracture was accompanied by a free fragment inserted into the anterior compartment of the knee. The free frag

CASE: A 10-year-old boy presented to the clinic with sharp left knee pain after sustaining an injury while hiking. The patient was unable to bear weight. Physical examination demonstrated a moderate effusion and lateral joint line tenderness. Imaging studies revealed a femoral-sided avulsion of the anterior cruciate ligament. Arthroscopic suture fixation of the avulsed fragment resulted in good radiographic and clinical results at the 13-month follow-up.
CONCLUSION: Physeal-sparing suture-fixation of femoral-sided anterior cruciate ligament avulsion injuries can be performed using an all-arth

This case study examines an adolescent athlete who had an avulsion fracture of the lesser tuberosity of the humerus. This is a relatively rare injury, although a collection of case studies have identified an increase in this type of injury in the past 15 years. Uniquely, the patient experienced a delay in appropriate diagnosis for approximately 3 years from the time of his initial injury. This is one of the most significant delays in diagnosis and treatment in the current body of literature regarding lesser tuberosity fractures. The authors include a detailed series of imaging studies, includi

Due to the traction of the Achilles tendon and osteoporosis, a large number of reports have shown that a series of complications such as skin flap necrosis and failure of internal fixation after surgery often cause nonunion or malunion of calcaneal tuberosity fractures. At the same time, there is no uniform standard for the operative procedure in the treatment of the avulsion fractures of the calcaneal tuberosity. We presented a new technique for the treatment of avulsion fractures of the calcaneal tuberosity, which is fixed with a 180-degree microplate. We aim to provide a simple, safe, and s

Surgical stabilization of high-energy sacral avulsion fractures with spinopelvic dissociation places high demands on the surgeon. The goal is to achieve maximum stability while minimizing invasiveness. The present case of a dislocated U‑type fracture in a 25-year-old motocross rider exemplifies how a reduction with the targeted application of closed reduction techniques through hyperextension of the hip joints and lordosis in the lumbosacral hinge and through a standardized procedure in intraoperative fluoroscopic imaging, a minimally invasive stabilization by means of transsacral screw fixati

CASE: We report the case of a patient who suffered traumatic avulsion of the gluteus medius and minimus tendons associated with posterior fracture-dislocation of the femoral head. The patient was treated with open reduction and internal fixation, followed by gluteus tenodesis with intraosseous anchors.
CONCLUSION: Although in isolation, gluteus medius or gluteus minimus tendons tear, hip dislocation, and head fractures are relatively common injuries; the concurrence of these lesions is noteworthy for its rarity. This patient had an uneventful postoperative evolution, with a complete functiona

A 14-year-old girl experienced acute left buttock pain during a sprint. At the local hospital, she was diagnosed with an avulsion fracture of the left ischial tuberosity. She was kept for observation for about 10 months; however, the buttock pain persisted, and the bone fragments did not unite. She was referred to our hospital approximately 11 months after the injury. Plain radiography revealed an increased transposition of the bone fragment, from 12 mm immediately after the injury to 23 mm. Twelve months after the injury, she underwent osteosynthesis using two cannulated cancellous screws and
