Hyperspectral geographical origin identification of Bupleurum via spatial-spectral features based on adaptive weighted quaternion zernike moments.

Bupleurum, a vital herb in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), possesses complex chemical compositions heavily dependent on variety and geographical origin. Misidentification often leads to unstable therapeutic efficacy and safety risks. Addressing challenges in market confusion and traceability, this study proposes a rapid, non-destructive identification framework using visible-near infrared (Vis-NIR) hyperspectral imaging. A comprehensive dataset comprising 3670 samples from 17 batches, 7 origins, and 2 varieties was established, with hyperspectral images acquired separately from the cross-s…

Digital phantoms generated by spectral and spatial light modulators.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

A hyperspectral image projector (HIP) based on liquid crystal on silicon spatial light modulators is explained and demonstrated to generate data cubes. The HIP-constructed data cubes are three-dimensional images of the spatial distribution of spectrally resolved abundances of intracellular light-absorbing oxyhemoglobin molecules in single erythrocytes. Spectrally and spatially resolved image data indistinguishable from the real scene may be used as standard data cubes, so-called digital phantoms, to calibrate image sensors and validate image analysis algorithms for their measurement quality, p

Phasor-Based Spatio-Spectral Segmentation for Hyperspectral Fluorescence Microscopy.

Fluorescence microscopy is essential for visualizing cellular and tissue structures. When combined with a hyperspectral modality, it enables the acquisition of emission spectra that provide insight into the composition of fluorophores. These spectra can be used for fluorophore-based image segmentation; however, accurate spectral separation becomes challenging when fluorophore emission spectra overlap and mix within individual pixels. We present a spatially-corrected density peak clustering (SC-DPC) method that combines phasor transformation with histogram-based density-peak detection and addit

Patient-level hyperspectral state-space learning for melanoma pathology diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: Histopathologic differentiation of cutaneous melanoma from pigmented nevus can be difficult when morphology is subtle. Microscopic hyperspectral imaging records tissue in contiguous narrow spectral bands across the visible and near-infrared range and may provide quantitative optical information beyond routine bright-field microscopy. We developed MelanoSpec-SSM, a patient-level spectral-spatial state-space algorithm for label-free hyperspectral pathology diagnosis. METHODS: This secondary methodological analysis used frozen sections from 100 patients (50 melanoma and 50 pigmented …

An End-to-End Platform for Digital Pathology Using Hyperspectral Autofluorescence Microscopy and Deep Learning-Based Virtual Histology.

Conventional histopathology involves expensive and labor-intensive processes that often consume tissue samples, rendering them unavailable for other analyses. We present a novel end-to-end workflow for pathology powered by hyperspectral microscopy and deep learning. First, we developed a custom hyperspectral microscope to nondestructively image the autofluorescence of unstained tissue sections. We then trained a deep learning model to use autofluorescence to generate virtual histologic stains, which avoids the cost and variability of chemical staining procedures and conserves tissue samples. Hyperspectral analysis to assess gametocytogenesis stage progression in malaria-infected human erythrocytes.

SIGNIFICANCE: Developments of anti-gametocyte drugs have been delayed due to insufficient understanding of gametocyte biology. We report a systematic workflow of data processing algorithms to quantify changes in the absorption spectrum and cell morphology of single malaria-infected erythrocytes. These changes may serve as biomarkers instrumental for the future development of antimalarial strategies, especially for anti-gametocyte drug design and testing. Image-based biomarkers may also be useful for nondestructive, label-free malaria detection and drug efficacy evaluation in resource-limited c

Semantic segmentation of methane plumes with hyperspectral machine learning models.

Methane is the second most important greenhouse gas contributor to climate change; at the same time its reduction has been denoted as one of the fastest pathways to preventing temperature growth due to its short atmospheric lifetime. In particular, the mitigation of active point-sources associated with the fossil fuel industry has a strong and cost-effective mitigation potential. Detection of methane plumes in remote sensing data is possible, but the existing approaches exhibit high false positive rates and need manual intervention. Machine learning research in this area is limited due to the

Seasonal Effect on Tree Species Classification in an Urban Environment Using Hyperspectral Data, LiDAR, and an Object- Oriented Approach.

The objective of the current study was to analyze the seasonal effect on differentiating tree species in an urban environment using multi-temporal hyperspectral data, Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) data, and a tree species database collected from the field. Two Airborne Imaging Spectrometer for Applications (AISA) hyperspectral images were collected, covering the Summer and Fall seasons. In order to make both datasets spatially and spectrally compatible, several preprocessing steps, including band reduction and a spatial degradation, were performed. An object-oriented classification was p

Zero-order diffraction-guided spectral-wise transformer: a lightweight and efficient framework for computed tomography imaging spectrometry.

Computed tomography imaging spectrometry (CTIS) is an advanced snapshot hyperspectral imaging technique capable of acquiring the three-dimensional (x, y, λ) datacube of the target scene within a single exposure. Due to the limited number of projections and constrained projection angles, the reconstructed datacube usually suffers severe artifacts. In recent years, deep learning has been applied in hyperspectral datacube reconstruction and has shown superiority in suppressing artifacts. However, most existing methods are CNN-based and contain a substantial number of parameters, necessitating lar…

Chemometric Models for Quantification of Carbamazepine Anhydrous and Dihydrate Forms in the Formulation.

Carbamazepine (CBZ) exists in anhydrous and dihydrate forms. These forms differ in their solubility, dissolution rate, and subsequently in their oral bioavailability. The objective of this study is to develop multivariate chemometric models for estimation of the low level of carbamazepine dihydrate (CBZ-DH) in the CBZ formulations containing excipients of the commercial formulation. The selected excipients were mixed in proportions to make sample matrices ranging from 0% to 50% CBZ-DH. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), near infrared (NIR), and hyperspectral imaging data were mathematically pr…

Spectral-Spatial-Temporal Kolmogorov-Arnold Network for Hyperspectral Change Detection.

Hyperspectral change detection (HCD) aims to recognize altered areas between hyperspectral images (HSIs) captured at different times, which is one of the crucial research areas in remote sensing. In recent years, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformer-based models have been popularly exploited for HCD. However, these models are based on the fixed-weight linear transformation, which struggles to effectively model the intricate spectral-spatial relationships inherent in HSIs. Meanwhile, these methods usually neglect the feature distribution discrepancy induced by different environm
