Hysteroscopic management of uterine diverticulum after myomectomy: a case report.

BACKGROUND: A uterine diverticulum is defined as the presence of a niche within the inner contour of the uterine myometrial wall. Although secondary uterine diverticula can occur after hysterotomy such as cesarean section, reports of diverticula after myomectomy are extremely rare. CASE PRESENTATION: A 45-year-old nulliparous woman undergoing infertility treatment was referred to our hospital because of abnormal postmenstrual bleeding after myomectomy. Transvaginal sonography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a diverticulum in the isthmus. Fat-saturated T1 image showed a blood reservoir

Cold scissors versus electrosurgery for hysteroscopic adhesiolysis: A meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Intrauterine adhesion seriously affects reproductive health in women. Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis using cold scissors or electrosurgery is the main treatment, although there is no consensus on the preferable method. This review aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of these methods for treating moderate to severe intrauterine adhesion. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Web of Science, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched on April 30, 2020. Randomized controlled trials and observ

Fertility outcomes after hysteroscopic removal of intrauterine leiomyomas and polyps.

Thanks to the progress of science, it is now understood that a successful implantation not only depends on the quality of the embryo, but also on having a receptive endometrium. During the years, several authors have reviewed the important role of the uterine factor, ranging from the congenital anomalies, such as uterine septa and subsepta, and acquired conditions such as endometrial polyps and submucous myomas. Currently, hysteroscopy has proved to be a powerful and accurate tool for visualizing the uterine cavity and treating intrauterine pathologies. This review of the literature aims to re

Cold scissors ploughing technique in hysteroscopic adhesiolysis: a comparative study.

BACKGROUND: Intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) can be dissected using hysteroscopic scissors (cold scissors) or other methods, but there is no consensus on which hysteroscopic method is preferable. There is also no consensus on the method of how to deal with the scar tissue on the surface of the intrauterine cavity. METHODS: From January 2016 to October 2017, 179 patients who had HA met the enrollment criteria (see the text below), and their data were analyzed retrospectively. In addition, all patients were divided into three groups according to the surgical techniques used. The groups were the pl

The role of preoperative 3D-ultrasound in intraoperative judgement for hysteroscopic adhesiolysis.

BACKGROUND: Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis (HA) remains the mainstay of treatment for intrauterine adhesions (IUA). In cases of moderate or severe IUA, the assistance of various adjunctive aids are usually sought to improve HA's success rate. Among these, intraoperative transabdominal ultrasound (TAS) is the most common; however, it has certain limitations. Preoperative three-dimensional transvaginal ultrasound (3D-TVUS) has been accepted as a non-invasive way to provide accurate information about the uterine cavity. This prospective, non-randomized controlled study will assess the effects of pre-

Discussion on operative skills in the embolization of hydrosalpinx by hysteroscopic placement of a microcoil.

This study aims to discuss the operative skills of hysteroscopic tubal embolization and reduce the occurrence of complications.Ninety-four patients were divided into group A and group B. The main surgical technique in group A: when the inner sleeve is sent to the fallopian tube and no longer accessible (but no >3 cm), remove the guide wire and put into the microcoil. But in group B, there are four major surgical techniques. First, the depth at which the guide wire enters the tube was controlled at 2 cm. Second, the inner diameter of the fallopian tube must be explored to determine the type and

Comparing volumetric and biochemical assessment of intravasation caused by hysteroscopic surgery.

BACKGROUND: During hysteroscopic surgery intravasation of irrigation fluid occurs, leading to potentially dangerous intravascular fluid overload. Currently, intravasation is usually measured volumetrically as fluid deficit. Intravasation could also be calculated using the decrease in hemoglobin or increase in chloride ion concentration, both phenomena known to result from intravasation. We compared the values of intravasation measured volumetrically as fluid deficit versus calculated from the biochemical change in hemoglobin and chloride. We expected that these values would show strong correla
